I have to say, this first day was much more fun than I expected it to be. The first match maybe wasn't too exciting in terms of quality, but it was very dramatic with a lot of unexpected things happening. If I wouldn't be half-greece myself, I could've had a lot of fun. The second match was nothing more than a demonstration of that kind of russian football we saw four years ago (Russia made it to the semi-finals after some spectacular matches, but was eventually defeated by the later tournament winners from Spain). I actually felt sorry for the Czechs, they're one of Europes top teams. Next day is going to be awesome, Germany, Portugal and Netherlands in one group!

The way Russia played last night, they deserve to win the whole thing. But that's pretty much exactly how Russia played in the previous EC. Very aggressive and offensive fotball, but that doesn't quite work so well against the big biggest nations like Spain, Germany and Holland. If it would work, they would demolish everyone. Personally, I would be satisfied if Sweden even make it to the playoffs.

They were a great team, but those days are long since over. They were lucky to qualify for the finals at all. Russia played them off the park last night and should have scored five or six. Though Russia deserve to go far they lack the defensive talent to resist teams like Spain and Germany. I hope they get to the semis again though as I enjoy watching them.

So far the Germans couldn't do much against the portuguese defensive-tactics. They are actually lucky to not have gotten a second wembley-goal! And congrats to Denmark!

Germany actually won. 1:0 and nothing else. Goal author was Gomez.

Maybe it's psychologically better that way, just barely making it rather than doing beautiful combinations for a 3:0. It was one of those ugly and laborious matches, that a good team must be able to win. If theres no other way, just sit through the thing with one goal.

Honestly, I would've liked the Portuguese to win. They simply seemed to be more motivated and more into the game, while the German players just kind of kept the ball between themselves most of the time. Because of this, I think the Portuguese did play better. Oh well, not that I'm much into football to begin with, but it was an interesting match to watch.

I have no idea but it looked like they failed quite badly. Things aren't looking good for the Netherlands right now.

A huge part of me died.mp3 last night, watching Italy and Spain dive their way to 1 - 1. That was the saddest game ever, but this means that all the dives in the entire tournament would be done by now.

Let's see how Sweden does tonight. I say it'll end 1-1.

Lol at the way group D turned out today. England - France playing the most boring game of football ever and Sweden - Ukraine playing one of the best games yet. Can't say I'm a big fan of the result of the second game but I really enjoyed the match.

Holy crap Mario Gomez is so awesome at what he does. I have to admit that he rarely even touches the ball, but the very second he gets a chance, he does something awesome. I am impressed.

The second half of England vs. Sweden was by far the most interesting match I've seen so far. Everything else of what I've seen so far has been kinda bleh, but this was kind of nice. Was rooting for the Swedish to win though :/

They certainly can win it, but the French have a habit of being inconsistent and blowing up at vital times (across various sports).

Sadly, Russia are in easilly the weakest group. There is a gulf in class between groups A&D compared to B&C.

Actually they won with Poland 1-0 and they're in. (Sadly for Poland. :( )
