Submission Text Full Submission Page
this is my super bowling TAS fo the n64. i improved alot at this game becouse my last submision was me throwing the ball in the gutter. i got all stikes insteed this time around

Game objectives

  • Emulator used: mupen 64 rerecording v2
  • aims for maximum score
  • abuse luck
i could improve this by abusing more rerecords

Noxxa: Judging.
Noxxa: Cancelling for bad game choice. The movie is incredibly boring and repetitive; bowling sessions do not make for a good TAS at all.

In that case, it would be more beneficial if you really did that.
http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.

I somehow suspect that not a single voter has actually watched this.

I personally preferred the all-gutter ball run.

This is what concerns me. Aren't we on v8? Is there even a Mupen-rr v2? EDIT: Watched the encode, and I wasn't entertained. Partly because the graphical glitches are annoying and make the encode almost dizzying to look out. No vote.

poptart1234, What are the settings on your video plugin (Jabo's Direct3D8 1.6, I suppose)? I tried every plugin, but the emulator always overlaps both halves of the screen, when that is not supposed to happen. I have some comments about the submission: - I trust that you did your best on this submission, but I would have preferred a game that requires more effort to TAS. Probably something that takes more than 343 rerecords. 343 rerecords isn't much these days. - You need to help users who want to see this TAS. Post an encode so users can watch the TAS without having to set up Mupen64 (this emulator is known for being a hassle). You can ask an encoder on IRC to help encode if you need. At least post settings like video plugins if nothing else. - You need to convince us that your TAS is worth watching. All your submission texts thus far have failed to do so. This is critical because it determines how others respond to your submission. poptart1234, I suggest posting on this forum regarding your next TAS project. You will need to put in more effort if you want to be taken seriously.

More rerecords aren't enough. We need a lot of detail and fastest possible in games time or more entertainment to complete. (fixed)

I agree with the detail part of that comment, but not necessarily with the speed. In a game like bowling, fastest possible is not always best. For something like this, try to find the craziest and weirdest ways of getting all strikes. Is it possible to bounce the ball off the gutter and still get a strike? How about bouncing it off both gutters? How long can you have the last pin wobble before it goes down for a strike? Can you throw the ball into another lane and still get a strike? Can you bounce the ball down the lane and still get a strike? Getting the game to do things it wasn't meant to can make for a much more entertaining TAS than just speed.

poptart1234, i'm not sure if you're trolling or not, but PLEASE stoppit with the submissions that the majority of the voters would vote no for. personally, i think i enjoyed the gutterball better than this. easy no vote, sorry.

For everyone having graphic glitches. Use Rice's Video Plugin. It's the only one that works fine.

Here it is an encode without annoying graphical glitches: http://www.mediafire.com/?qoxszrte7pn6x64 Thanks to Cooljay for telling which plugin is the best for this game. Why did I do this? Not sure...

Voting no because this was done 5 years ago with a better bowling game. Plus robots > TASes. Link to video

I'm no big fan of a bowling TAS as everyone else, but I find it would've been slightly more entertaining and challenging on your part to manipulate some impossible splits and getting a spare out all of them. Rather than all strikes.

I don't think we need any sort of bowling TAS on the site. They're not very interesting to look at regardless of what you do, and get old real quickly.
