Which player do you think did the best job of goind from bad to excellent? A healthy amount of players (even Ninjas) have been nominated: FODA Frenom Genisto Phil Walker Boh

I'm going to nominate Genisto. I don't know how many people were here long enough to remember Genisto's first runs, but they weren't that great. Contra anyone? But if you look at all the games he did since then, Castlevania, Battletoads, Arkanoid and more, you see he's one of our best movie makers now.

Walker Boh is the obvious choice. His first runs were... well, bad. Now he has risen to godly levels. I would also like to point out the fact that this category penalizes players who were good from the start.

My first thought for this category is obviously Walker Boh, but I have to check better.

Truncated summed up my thoughts perfectly. I say Walker, by far. -Josh
but then you take my 75 perchance chance of winning, if we was to go one-on-one, and then add 66 and two-thirds ch...percents...i got a 141 and two-thirds chance of winning at sacrifice

Unless I'm mistaken Frenom only did one Super Metroid run.

Okay, so I only saw the last one. I wasn't very impressed by the movie, so unless the first was pretty bad, I don't think he can compete with other improved players we've seen on the site.

BoltR: Of course, I'm just arguing my viewpoint. Which others will probably take into account when they vote.

Oh, and I just thought of FODA too. I wasn't very impressed with his early videos but he has gotten a lot better and made some really impressive ones, for example Battletoads and Excitebike.

We've had quite a few people try to submit movies that were skilled based, but slowly realized to use the features of the emulators to make a better movie. Vatchern was one of them, but he's not elligible for this year's competition. Who did we have like this past year?

How about Neofix? He started off with some pretty 'blar' movies, and now he has a few published runs and a few queued for the same fate. Plus, his work with Strider is commendable, but I am unsure if that meets the deadline.

"Posted: 2005-04-10 00:27:17 Post subject: #619: Neofix's Genesis Strider in 07:57" Not eligible to use that movie as evidence of a player's improvement. But I see 3 of his earlier submissions had ~60% ratings, while later on before April 1, he got a 92% and 100% rating.

Yes Especially Excitebike. And I will go for Walker Boh as well... Because he submit most accurate submission. Just look at his submission's list. 90% of his submissions are published here.

Thank you ;) But I've also submitted runs that wasn't good at all, and runs that I found improvements in the day after I've submitted em ;) I'll hope to learn this someday though.

That's the whole point. If you only submitted good runs the whole time here, you can't win this award.

Well, I haven't seen a lot of people's earlier movies, so I can't comment on most of them. However, I feel safe in nominating Phil. One of our resident ninjas started out with movies like this disaster. (please don't take that personally)
A hundred years from now, they will gaze upon my work and marvel at my skills but never know my name. And that will be good enough for me.

ok ok don't humiliate me with one the worst movie that Bisqwit had received but now, my theory is, do it once, well I always hope so, and do it good. Even Genisto had made very miserable movie. If you had saw his Adventure of Bayou Billy on NES using VirtuaNES or Renegade using Famtasia you'd say " That sucks" ;) But well, that GI Joe and adv. Island 1 movie doesn't deserve a star :P I still agree that some of my 1st movies, I will not name them, adv. island 3, Double Dragon 2 etc.. :P, are currently imperfect. Give me some time and they will be improved. I am currently working on DD2. After stage 1, it's some seconds faster. Note that I wasn't aiming for fastest time bit now with FCEU, I am aiming for faster time probably not fastest since I don't want to make it boring to watch. I am pretty sure that Dragon's Lair and Goonies can't be improved. If someone can beat one of them, it will certainly deserve a star.
