Well, the Legend of Zelda had some crazy planning behind it to get the route used. Both SleepZ and Phil played it. SleepZ also played Super Mario Bros. 2 frame by frame. Phil and Genisto played Super Castlevania 4 which was insane to do right and needed loads and loads of rerecording. They also did the Battletoads run on Famtasia which was a nightmare with Famtasia going nuts all the time.

Arc is the most consistent of anyone in picking games that require crazy amounts of planning, so he gets my vote. I wouldn't mind seeing Acmlm either, his work on DW was insane. -Josh

Dan_: but were those movies he made more difficult than your average movie? Did they require more calculations to do that good?

I think the difficulty may depend on the quality of the movie. Even a relatively easy game can be difficult to timeattack if you're extremely determined to be pixel-perfect and test everything. But difficulty can also be subjective because what may be difficult for one person to do may not be difficult for another.

I think difficulty could be seen in a few different ways. Some games are very difficult to plan routes for. Zelda games would be an example. Others drive the players to really rip the game apart and see how it works, and how it calculates things. Dragon Warrior would be a prime example. I'm sure the Rockman games were very difficult, as well, with finding the best ways to use the various glitches, as well as performing them. I think I remember Bisqwit saying that they had to be pretty much frame perfect just to work.
If for honesty, you want apologies, I don't sympathize.

Not much discussion here. Is it in your opinion that these people most deserve the title of creating the most difficult to make movies? If you think someone should be added or removed from the list speak now. Acmlm Arc Bisqwit Genisto Phil SleepZ SprintGod Edit: I just wanted to add my reasons for adding Bisqwit. He has shown that for most the movies he made, to plan like crazy for them. For Castlevania, he had to decide which was the best weapon strategy, where to get what, and how many hearts to pick up. For Castlevania 2, there's a lot of time involved and all sorts of places to go, the planning for this was quite complex. For Kirby's Adventure, a lot of work went into deciding which weapons payed off the most in the long run, and how to do things without cluttering up the screen which would cause the game to slow down. Finally for Mega Man, a lot went into deciding the level order, and calculating pixels to the frame how longs things take to know what's best to do where, and reaching the end of levels with exact energy. He's also used many rerecords in a lot of them which indicates they were not easy to make. Although he has admitted not being so good skill wise at some games, which explains for some high rerecord counts. Do notice Phil and Genisto's Castlevania run which was better had a lower rerecord count. Also realize rerecord counts could be easily edited so they should be taken with a grain of salt.

Seconded, simply for S3&K. 150,000+ re-records must have been soooo painful.

Walker Boh's done a lot of tough ones that nobody's wanted to pick up as well because of their difficulty. Legacy of the Wizard comes to mind. I'd really like to do a run of this, but I just know it would not go well. Acmlm also stands out in my head.
