The boss in the first level only launches the first ball at frame 4179. I have reached the boss at frames ranging from 3862 (when the screen goes black, my fastest) to frame 4114 exactly (that is the last frame before he changes patterns). On all frames between those frames, the boss will launch the first ball at frame 4179. Reaching there earlier than fram,e 4114 means waiting at the boss screen, because he will sit there and do nothing, or just move around untill he can shoot. If i wait past frame 4114, he launches the ball at frame 4435. 4435 - 4179 = 256 frames! weird number for frame count this is the interval at which he shoots the first ball. 4179 - 256 = 3923 this is the frame i was wanting the boss to start shooting at. 4179 - 4114 = 65 this is how much time went from black screen to the boss shooting the ball, this is the best frame amount. So, 3923 + 65 = 3988. This is the frame the screen should have gone black to give me a good movement for the boss. But i reached way sooner than that and he still didnt give me what i wanted so i give up for this level, gonna kick his ass and move on to level 2, unless someone has a better idea. I really dont see how it can be made any faster. edit: fix, its 3923 - 65 = 3858. this is the correct frame for reaching the black screen.

hmmm i must have made something wrong on that math lol, 4114 - 256 = 3858 that means i only need to make it 4 frames faster to get it the right movement :S here is the movie file. it reaches the black screen before the boss at frame 3862, i must reach that screen at frame 3858, any help is appreciated. http://www.angelfire.com/ex/uobt/bt-2p-warpless-foda-v3-3862.zip

Just making it short: If i can make it 4 frames faster, that will make the movie more than 4 seconds faster, and with no waiting time. Phil got it on frame 4310 on his 1p warpless movie, and the boss fired the ball at frame 4441, so, i did something 6 frames faster that triggered the boss attack count 6 frames sooner...

This makes no sense, i reached the boss at frame 3852 but now he shot the ball at frame 4149!! ok thats 30 frames faster than what i had, but i dont want 30, i want 256 :S Ok i guess i know what happened. I got the bat earlier this time, so the bat uses less repeating frames when theres a hit, and these frames cut down some time but the boss doesnt count repeated frames on his loop sequence, or something like that... So... i dont think the bat lag should be taken in consideration in the first level. EDIT: freaking Whoo hoo! with that lag thing in mind i finally got it!! reached him at frame 3851 and he shot the ball at frame 3922! i can finally end this level, now only 11 to go :)

Here is the complete level 1 file. It goes 8.5 seconds faster than the 1p warpless run. I dont know how many levels will actually save time, and i dont remember right now how many seconds are lost because of 2 players bug on level 11, but i think it may be possible that this is faster than the 1p warpless. http://www.angelfire.com/ex/uobt/bt-2p-warpless-foda-v5-level1.zip I also got the upwards and downwards headbutts correctly. Left+right is needed for it to work. oh, and, i made level 1 slower 2 frames so that the last part didnt look so boring.

Finished level 3, i got a lot of points and lives on level 2, also made the toads fight each other on some places. Looks good i hope. At end of level 3, the movie is 13.5 seconds faster than the 1p warpless movie. I'm not worrying too much about player 2 amount of lives, because i can always kick him to oblivion later, but anyway, i try to give the extra lives to player 1. http://www.angelfire.com/ex/uobt/bt-2p-warpless-foda-v5-level3.zip

Level 4 has been very hard to optimize, because using 2 players has become more of a nuissance than a help. I cant use the headbutt freely, and the hazards often make it possible for only 1 toad to go through, so i have to put them on the same position. I found a little bug at the start, i'm experimenting with it. By throwing one of the toads above the walls he sometimes gets stuck or teleported.

At the start of level 4 i was 808 frames faster than phil's 1p version. But at the end of level 4 i'm only 356 frames ahead. I dont care i wont remake everything (even though i know how to improve it). This level has taken way too many days already. Anyway, i kill player 2 __twice__ on it and player 1 gets ye ol' death at the end. also shows a little glitch about dying before the level ends then completing the level (same as they did on level 5). I couldnt find any good place to use the teleporting glitch, not even to kill player 2, sadly. Using 2 players on this level added some lag, nothing much i can do :S

Due to requests, i made level 4 220 frames faster than that last version (it still includes player 2 getting killed twice and player 1 fake death). wip goes here: http://www.angelfire.com/ex/uobt/bt-2p-warpless-foda-v19.zip

ok, found a huge time saving bug i used it on rat blarg and hopefully it works on other bosses too. I wasted some frames on level 6 by beating up player 2, i chose it for style, i think it looks much funner. I didnt slow down to do it, the wasted frames are because each hit repeats some frames for the impact effect. The total wasted time for the whole level due to beating payer 2 is 66 frames. I dont regret it, it looks fun. Watch and comment please, tell me if it was worth it (i think it was). I dont mind remaking level 6, that one is pretty easy. www.angelfire.com/ex/uobt/bt-2p-warpless-foda-v29.zip

Just watched it, and I've enjoyed it so far. I liked how you made the snake stage more entertaining. I think the second lost was a fair trade.

That was the most entertaining Snake Pit play I've seen. Punting the yellow toad into the exit in the first room had me rolling! Oh and the rest of this run also looks phenomenal. This game was practically made for tool-assisted movies. Would you mind explaining the trick you used on rat blarg / any idea what causes it?

Sure, i'll explain it, its pretty simple actually. btw, glad you liked it, a lot of effort was put into making this (and i'm only half-way still) :) The bug consists of trying to kill the other player but getting out of the way on the last moment so that the punch hits Rat Blarg instead. That hit seems to do the same damage as 15 headbutts would do, so i had to do 1 more using the second player to just finish him off. I found it by mistake, because both toads were low on health (it was usefull so that the space-invaders-energy-stealers would just go away, thats phil's strat). I was fighting rat blarg when one of the toads tried to hit the other one instead of hitting blarg but hit blarg. Then i figured what happened and optimized it.

Yes, yes. Why you didn't thought of that before :P I also forgot to do that in the 2 player version I have made. Stupid Famtasia with its googleplex of desync that frustrates me and forgot this trick. I've used to do it at full speed, BT & DD, to beat bosses a lot faster.

I couldnt get that glitch to work on Level 8's boss, my guess is he already was made to receive strong damage, the only difference if i use that trick on him is that the puinch will be worth 5000 instead of 2000, but its much faster to just have both toads punching him. Anyway, finished level 8 for those who are interested, WIP here http://www.angelfire.com/ex/uobt/bt-2p-warpless-foda-v36.zip I tried to make level 7 into some sort of shooter game where you can make formation with the ships. I also made the missiles part and the fireballs part very interesting :) edit: i remade the level 8 boss, now its 51 frames faster and players 2 gets an extra death! cool, now i'll have to kill player 2 only twice on level 9, not thrice.

http://www.angelfire.com/ex/uobt/toads-go-out-of-the-screen.zip Can someone explain me this? Play that movie, mark the read only option. then load the savestate included (9). The toads will die, but on the NEXT life, they will start going out of the screen, how is that possible? Its a wrong savestate that doesnt belong to that movie, but the toads start doing impossible things, its impossible to go out of the screen like that. I dont understand it, shouldnt it be just a sequence of keys? Does the savestate contain something that doesnt fit into the memory that changed the game so much?

.............................2prun-1prun=difference at end of level 01: 05195 - 05708 = -513 total frames at end of level 02: 12727 - 13262 = -535 total frames at end of level 03: 22375 - 23167 = -792 total frames untill now, 2p has been making it faster at end of level 04: 28070 - 28584 = -514 total frames here i lost some time because of lag at end of level 05: 34144 - 35477 = -1333 total frames rat blarg died quick on the 2p run, so a lot of time was gained at end of level 06: 44653 - 45913 = -1260 total frames used some frames to beat player 2 up ad fun death at end of sections at end of level 07: 55894 - 57657 = -1753 total frames at end of level 08: 58768 - 60680 = -1912 total frames levels 7 and 8 were faster because of fighting after 1st section: 61205 - 62257 = -1052 total frames at end of level 09: 69683 - 70213 = -530 total frames level 9 lagged 1400 frames. i'll have to try to remake it. that sucks so much at end of level 10: 71266 - 72155 = -889 total frames an unpublished glitch that speeds it up a lot comparing to 1p run after killing player2: 72562 - 72155 = +407 total frames gameover to p2 required... that all made the 2p run slower than 1p. i made an incredible chart http://img21.echo.cx/img21/8052/chart6zo.png
