FCE Ultra 0.98.12
Warpfull version
Bugs: I found two ways to pass through walls
  • 1: pass through wall from a corner: you must run and fall at top speed and have a good pixel alignment
  • 2: pass through a wall if the ceiling is reachable: you must run lean before jumping, you must begin to fall before reaching the wall and you must be just under the ceiling
No hit/No death
Aims: Fastest as possible and maximum score
  • score = 364270
  • life = >99
  • coin = 54
Description: in this movie, I show you these bugs and some other cool moves. I don't follow the road in the last stage because I pass through any wall which I see lol!!

Phil: Note that the movie may desync due to some random timings in FCEU when playing that game. Retry playing the movie until it is ok.

Can I vote anything other than 'yes' without being completely ostracized? I think not :p Regardless, this movie deserves the yes vote. Congradulations on a job well done, Genisto.

congreatulations! thats awe-o-some! the video is full of amazing things, but i have 1 complaint and 1 question I think that after the last fight the music was shaded by the P-speed sound, i think thats bad, imo. But i guess there was no way around it, was there? :) Did genisto test if it was possible to go through walls at the flute room? It was mentioned at the thread, i tried a little but couldnt do it, did he try it?

Sorry for the music: I must get the speed power for passing through the corner of the floor.

The ceiling is unreachable at top speed: I tried to pass through the wall at normal speed and it's seen not possible Thanks everyone ;)

A yes, of course. But one thing you may want to consider is that if score is a consideration, that once you get 99 lives, to stop getting extra lives.

Finally, it didn't desynch. Just when you think the theoretical time has been reached, somebody comes and shaves 19 seconds off it. Excellent run, a definite yes vote.

Well, I think Foda should have kept competing, but oh well.

Yeah, actually, getting any lives at all through bouncing could probably prevent you from getting more score that way, so I'm not sure that goal is so accurate. Maybe "most consecutive bounces" would make more sense.

Awesome. The last level was brilliant. Too bad you couldn't make it over the pit in 1-1 though.

Argh! Stupid freaking desync! I'm trying to watch a movie here! Okay, other than having to fast forward through the one place where the movie desyncs every time, I was finally able to watch the whole movie and form an opinion of it. I think it's good. Yeah, this movie is amazing! Way to skip half of Bowser's castle! I love the fun you have with the game's collision detection, with wrenches passing through your head and other unmentionable parts. Absolutely excellent. A clear Yes vote.

Oh wait, I forgot to mention one thing. Was that a stray shot a the end of the second level of world 8? (the ship) Or did I miss something? Not that it would change my vote, the movie is amazing!

Speaking of shots, I'm particularly fond of the scenes were Mario throws a fireball that doesn't hit an enemy for three more screens. Now that's timing!

Hmm... good movie, but frankly I am disappointed. I expected the "walls don't mean anything anymore" boasting be more than what I had already demonstrated... Admittedly, I didn't demonstrate bug #2 (which has been demonstrated by Tokushin, if I recall right, and by myself accidentally in frogsuit tests), but then again, it wasn't really used in this movie for anything. Even though the movie let down my personal expectations, I'll vote yes because it's a good successor to the previous release. I'll try to encode it.

Does that mean we can expect a further improvement from you soon? :)

No, I didn't say I saw mistakes in it. It just didn't match the hype I had seen (from Phil's "walls don't mean much anymore" and in the submission text ("I found ...")).

Very impressive indeed. But, somehow, I can't help thinking it is still possible to improve. Though I know I am not capable of doing it, I just know someone will. Anyway, this movie deserves a YES vote, ofcourse, and it sure has gotten mine. Great work, Genisto.

I liked the all the little tricks done along the way. I kind of miss small mario jumping into the clouds in 1-1, but we've come a long way since Morimoto. Good work.

Don't worry, Bisqwit. I'm sure those wall tricks will be of more use in an all-levels movie.

19 seconds faster yes but a lot of it is because of screen transitions being faster on USA version
