About the Run

  • This is an improved version of My TAS

An improving point

The first warp after shopping was changed near Double Jump from near the GreatStairway left end. And Double Jump was acquired and it was used as Multiple Hits Source of Kelemet Battle. By having Killed Kelemet without Final Sword and High Speed, it succeeded in changing EXP acquisition from Final Guard*4. Moreover, Double Jump is used also by Death Battle and has improved.

It's baffling how this run still keeps getting improved. Great work as usual, mtb, and an obvious yes vote.

Spectacular. I like seeing Double Jump in the route again. Yes vote.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. From the submission comments:

Nice improvement. Clear yes vote for improving this very nice run once again.
http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.

Is it too much to ask for a run of this game that doesn't horribly break the save system?

Nice improvement, voted yes. Note to Encoders: Use improved version of desmume for encoding because of line segments. OpenGL handles them in the best way (it depends on graphic chip though). SoftRasterizer sometimes draws them wrongly, but it is so-so quality.

Looks fine to me. Your video player needs to step it up...

Indeed it does. I was trying it using WMP. Obvious failure reason I overlooked. VLC shows it just fine.

I have to second the sentiment. At some point entertaining stuff gradually becomes replaced by menu navigation, out-of-bounds travel, NPC interaction, cutscenes and whatnot. This TAS is way past that point.

[2257] DS Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin "Richter Mode" by mtbRc in 17:26.43 Same game, no menu, no OOB, no NPCs, no cutscenes, no whatnot. Is this what you want?

I much prefer it when characters aren't overpowered, and especially not endowed with endgame-worthy abilities from the get-go. I did enjoy that run, though.
