Are you able to lja bit in the forest temple without buffering? It should be doable on console.
No.
Also it's really confusing when you say things like "bite can be done from the forest temple" when you mean that you can perform the bit for bite in the forest temple.
Sorry.

This route is confusing to watch, because I know just enough about the game to know that that completely isn't the right order to do things in, but not enough to figure out exactly what's wrong.

1) all of the stuff in ordon at the beginning is skipped, except goats. 2) you don't normally get sword+shield by jumping off a bridge. 3) iron boots aren't normally got until after kakariko. 4) master sword usually comes much, much later 5) you're supposed to clear the faron twilight and finish the forest temple 6) lanayru isn't supposed to be accessible until later. 7) you normally need water bombs, zora armor, and lanayru twilight cleared to enter lakebed 8) i skip the goron mines dungeon. Those are the main things.

Right. It's interesting how the game handles the complete inconsistency about which areas are/aren't twilit (and it's vaguely surprising that the master sword lets you go into human form in twilit areas; does that situation ever come up in the intended route). Thanks for the explanation, anyway.

Can you please elaborate?

It would skip killing all of the poes. All we would have to do in arbiter's ground is get spinner, boss key, and kill the boss. As per my edit above though, it doesn't seem possible.

It doesn't work at all, was caused by one of the cheats i had on.

Link to video I think this will make it faster to skip faron twilight, but i still need to think it through and time it. edit: did some timing. Best case scenario, if i could jump the fence after 1 minute of jumpslashing (which is how long it takes to get to the first place where you can slide down the other side and land on the edge), it'd save maybe 5-10 seconds. However i'm fairly confident that's not possible, and even if it is possible to save time with this, i've yet to get across the fence again after 2 hours of spamming b, so honestly not sure it's even worth trying.

Link to video Saves about 1 second, and requires getting a heart piece after stallord. Link to video Saves ~20 frames. Link to video About 10 frames or so faster than an lja. Nothing big, but these things add up.

awesome stuff! As for the fence-jumping, it looks like the time you actually made it to the other side was because you mashed slower and his feet touched the beam later in the jump-slash animation.

Yep. I've tried pretty much everything there, and it didn't seem to matter. Either way, i don't think it'll be possible to save time with it, after all. I also found this yesterday Link to video Saves 1-2 seconds. I think i've found just about everything i expect to for now, so i'll probably get back to working on the tas soon.

There's a trick on Zant that saves one second and isn't really worth it outside TAS. I mentioned it in my segmented run's comments on SDA but in case you didn't read it: Link to video Normally on hyrule Zant he walks at you while swinging three times, then he'll spin at you; the max hits you can get after the spin is 6, then you have to do one more to kill him. But for some reason if one of your spin attacks picks up a heart then it will hit him twice, which lets you do 7 after the spin, skipping the last one. You can get a heart next to Zant without losing any time with the boomerang. Shouldn't be any issues with equipping it because you'll be needing the boomerang immediately after PoT anyway.

I've managed to pull off that single cycle on the final phase quite a few times, you sure you have to pick up a heart? I mean I guess it's possible that's why but I've never noticed it; I always thought it just required extremely good timing.

As far as I know the max spin attacks you can get in at that point is 6 before he disappears, and he needs 7 hits at that point, so yeah. Maybe there's some weird timing that lets you get 7 hits without the heart. Though getting the heart is probably faster than doing another spin attack anyway. It'd be neat to see a TAS get all four hearts and hit him four times at once, heh. Not sure you can get all four without losing time though.

Copypasta from SDA. SPR right after clawshot won't work unless you can dig up a bunch of luck rupees. Also the first line of that should be 'SPR after MDH'. I'll write out full detailed routes of both and the differences if anyone is interested.

Oh right, i forgot about that. I don't think it'll be a problem for tas though. I'll run through the game and see how rupee manipulation goes when i get the chance though, just to be sure.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8BqlEd2SSA He only takes 6 spin attacks here; maybe the extra jumpslash added to the damage? Either way this is possible without grabbing the heart.

Route is changing again. We will now skip faron twilight, and do the zombie hover over the kakariko gorge. By ljaing onto the fence for the zombie hover when can land here, which is roughly 1:30 faster than what i had previously done. I also found a way to go towards the bridge instead of around the other side of the fence after crossing the gorge, which saves around 12 seconds or so. A video of that is at http://youtu.be/j6eiFTyfrqA , though that is about 1 minute slower on the zombie hover than what can be done. Not sure what the exact route will be yet, but i'd expect it to be roughly 45-60 seconds faster.
