Super Street Fighter 2 - The New Challengers is a Head to Head Fighting game, the best of the Street Fighter series on SNES and also one of the best beat em up games ever made
Well I remember many complained that Street Fighter walkthroughs are always played with Ken or Ryu and they are most known so it's nothing new to watch them, so I started a Zangief run almost 1 1/2 months ago and recorded it in my free time or if I needed a break after Secret of Evermore recording :-)
This is a 8 Star Super Battle walkthrough using Zangief because of 2 reasons:
-Zangief has in my opinion the most versatile fighting style and also many different combo possibilities like no other fighter in this game, even if it don't looks like that. He has 10 different throws (yes, you read it right) which look very cool and make a interesting watch.
-I remember someone has once requested a Zangief run
The maximum combos are 9-hits this time (I could do even a 10 hit combo against Fei Long but it would look to monotone so I did a very impressive 9 hit combo with KO at the end instead. I also made sure that I don't have to fight against CPU Zangief and that the 4 missing fighters of the Ken movie are here in this run.
I can't really say which movie is the better one now (Ken or this) so I let you guys decide that.

Wow, as SF champion, if its really true why not showing us your skill in making a movie for this game? I agree that Ken is the best fighter to kick ass at least. Can you explain more exactly what combo you speak of? I'm very interested if I know this one or not. If someone really wants to help me making the tournament mode just upload your progressed smv for example on www.rapidshare.de the best free filespace offer for sharing on the net since you don't need to register at all, and the file is available as long as you want.

I used to play with Ken a lot against human opponents and also had a combination of moves which noone was able to beat - at least if they didn't know how to. But it was not exactly a combo, it was more of a playing style. What I did (and what ANGERFIST maybe did as well) was: Knock down the opponent, and once this was done to crouch directly next to him and spam jabs (light punches). As soon as my opponent got up again he'd receive jabs in the face or block them. Either way I'd stop jabbing to make a quick step towards him, then grab and throw him. After that rather, rinse, repeat.

On zbattle, there are some players which use the same style, it's a very shrewd technique. In this case you just have to avoid the knockdown or trying to reverse the grab somehow..

Saturn: You're right; trying to reverse the throw seems to be the technique to go against this tactic. What my opponents do (as I'm usually only playing two of my friends here, one picks Sagat and the other E. Honda) is to hammer the jab button while they're still on the floor to counter-jab when rising OR hammer hard-punch to counter-throw. It seems kinda random who gets the throw then, we couldn't exactly figure out what creates a priority. Nice to tech-talk about SF2 though :) Had an awesome time with that game.

Each fighter has his own grab/throw priority: For example Dhalsim and Balrog seem to have the best one since they have disadvantages in the normal fight, Vega for example has a crappy throw reverse. I'm not 100% sure about this but I heard that from other ssf2 experts too. What do you think ANGERFIST?

you'd probably beat me every time since the last time I played it was back in 1996 or something like that. For now, Im very sad because AC Milan just lost the damn champions league finals so Im not in mood to give suggestions, however I can almost promise my technique do not care what opponent you are facing, therefore it should be 98% solid. Forget the Champions League. Now Roland Garros (French Open) is running :-) This is the most thrilling Tournament in Tennis, since I play real Tennis myself so I'm very interested in that. My winner-candidates there are Coria, Federer, Nadal or Safin if someone know them.

I typically cannot get into fighting game time attacks, although I played SSF2 a lot. That being said, this is a very well put together and entertaining run. Voting yes. Vega round 2 was my personal favorite fight. Ha heh heh heh heh (Zangief laugh)

One thing I didn't like about this was that autofire was used so often. For example at the car it's obvious as some hits are direct (without going to idle pose) and some flicker between kicking and idling. The choreography is quite nice. I can't decide if I like this or the Ken movie better.

I give this movie a "meh". I have to agree with some. I have not played this game...so seeing you not complete all the bosses with one straight combo, or something fancy wasn't always entertaining. Though for the difficulty played, getting a flawless victory every time must have been really tough...

That's more like it! I belive I am the one who requested a Zangief movie all that time ago, and my dreams came true with this one. Plenty of variety and lots of things I don't remember ever pulling off IRL. A definitive "yes" vote, if only for Zangief and the ex-pres dancing in the end. Priceless.
