For some reason, when I download pacman.zip (the arcade ROM image for Pacman) and put it in the ROMs folder, and I select that directory for the location of the file, it doesn't show it in the folder! Reply on how to fix this dilemma! Also, I don't know if this will affect it, but I got an error message before starting Final Burn Alpha that informed me of missing two different .dll files.
If I could have a tool-assisted real life, I'd... Being a novice, I'd probably load the wrong state, have the IRS AI bankrupt me, and eventually make me want to kill myself and redo 11 years of hard work.

Final Burn Alpha mainly does fighters (I really want to do Time Crisis!) and to play, they must be in a zip file in the rom directory, so they can be found.

I did. They were in a .zip file in the ROMs folder. And the worst part is, it works good on MAME! (Or Puckman, anyways.) If only someone made a functioning rerecording version of MAME! Edit: Now they have one, but I can't find the ROM directory!

This will very likely be your issue. You should be able to find the missing .dll files using Google.
