About the run

This is a glitched run of castlevania dawn of sorrow, where I clear the game using the zip glitche after beating Dmitrii For doing this glitch,I must have an Axe,because using it Soma can enter into the wall

Time Comparison betwen this run and the current run

This run is 2175 frames or 36s.25ms faster than the published run by gocha

Trick Used

Thanks to Kriole for finding the good dash trick Here is the command to do so:
If you go right: >
                < L
                  v>
                < L
                  v>
If you go left : <
                 > L
                  <v
                 > L
                  <v

Stage by Stage Comment

StageComments
Intro StageIn this stage,I can get the 3 souls (Red,Blue,Yellow) without luck manipulation
The Lost VillageFirst thing that I do here is meeting Yoko and Julius for obtaining the Magic Seal 1,then going to beating Flying Armor
Wisardry LabHere,I must get the mind up,this is a nessecary item for the glitche. After that,I beat Balore for upgrading the level and obtain Balore soul, this is an Ability which can shattes Crystal Blocks
Garden of MadnessAfter entering directly to this room,I save the game for the zip glitch, then (using luck manipulation) I obtain Yorick's soul, the preferable weapon for beating Dmittri on The Dark Chapel
The Dark ChapelThe pre-final stage, and here I beat Dmittri using Yorick's soul then I use Lua Scripting for the zip glitch, then collect the acheive things then suspend the game
The AbyssThe Short and Final Stage. After restarting the game,I go to the warp room for going to the stage and get the good end
Total stages: 6 Stages

Special Thanks To:

  • Kriole: for his 100% souls run and his trick
  • gocha: for his Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow glitched run

This is all comments

Nach: This run can be a bit better, but is overall a nice improvement with good response. Since it's been a while since the last TAS was published, I'm going to accept this improvement, despite that it can be better.

Nice run and nice improvement! Of course not as awesome as some of the other categories for this game, but that's the nature of glitching away the majority of the game. Here's my quick temp downloadable encode (for 60 fps, @ crf 23, 31.05MB): http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?3jd9u54dszmxa12 Hopefully this one's not borked.

Thanks for the encode, qwizkim! Having watched the entire run now, I can say that it was a nice improvement. Well deserving a yes vote.

I think this run is improvable. I compared this run and my abondoned WIP (see the link below, and Dawn of Sorrow forum), and my one is about 90 frames faster. The comparison is based on in-game time because we use different version of emulator. I guess the difference mostly comes from the strategy at Axe Armor room and Flying Armor room. (I'm quite not sure, you can confirm the truth by watching movie by yourself :P) http://dawnofsorrow.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/CV-DoS-glitched-tasv2.dsm Anyway, it's much better than my old publication and well-optimized. Good work, McBobX. I voted Yes. Edit 1 I converted the submitted movie from 0.9.6 to 0.9.8, to make comparison easier. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/949249109/CVDOS%20TAS%20098.dsm Edit 2 Encoded a comparison video, enjoy. Nice going, McBobX! I'd be curious to see if you could figure out how to use Gocha's improvements, too.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. From the submission comments:
Shoutouts and thanks to mklip2001 for arguably being the nicest and most supportive person on the forums.

I made a comparison video between this run and my old run, just for curious. (Room-by-room comparison, based on in-game time) Link to video

Looking at the comparison video, the old one was ahead at a couple of spots, like at around 2:35, got through the room where the new run got Yorick faster, and finished the Dimitri fight faster.
Taking over the world, one game at a time. Currently TASing: Nothing
