Finally! I'm finished with the game. Robot Y was easier to grab than I thought... Comments? Suggestions? Should I submit this?

It's not bad, but it could be better, and that's probably what people are going to say if you submit it. If you have the stamina, make another version. You'll probably notice that it will be a lot faster already in the first level with the stuff you learned over time. For a concrete suggestion on what can be done better, the very first menu handling can be a lot faster. Use frame advance and find the first possible frame the game will accept input on. Test if it's possible to press start on the same frame as you make the last move, or if you have to delay it one frame.

Of course it can be improved. Nearly any run on this site can be. I just don't want to do it all over, especially for a game where every time I do it over, it's a little different no matter how close I copy my actions (which could very well make the run longer or nearly the same time at the end). I'm pretty much exhausted by making a 4000+ rerecord movie of this game anyway (it's a miracle I even did it at all, I'm a very impatient person). I've also got exams and other outside factors coming up that I have to deal with. I might do another version this summer when I'll have all the time in the world to get things perfect. Either that, or I might start a run of Final Fight 3, depending on if I'm still burned out on SOR3. I think I'll just toss my hat in the ring and see what happens. The worst that can happen is it'll be rejected.

Well, I've decided that I'm going to do a 2 player run with Zan and Axel, and this time I'm going to do it right. Frame by frame perfection. It may take me the whole summer just to do two or three stages (not to mention the difficulty of controlling both characters at the same time), but it will definitely be worth it in the end. I tried doing some research on 2 player runs, and besides the fact that only two buttons can be pressed at the same time, I couldn't find any universal tips. Any advice I might find helpful?

Sounds good. You know I'll be here if you have any questions or anything. I'd consider switching one of them (Axel?) to Blaze, mostly because she can throw the fat guys. But she's also good with the sword and has an ok blitz attack, and most irritatingly, her flurry attacks are stronger than Axel's. >besides the fact that only two buttons can be pressed at the same time, I couldn't find any universal tips. Where did you get this info? From me? I have a crappy keyboard. Many people can press more buttons than that at the same time. It's almost a requirement for doing a two-player run... or any run, really.

Huh. I just tested, and I can only press three buttons at a time. That means I might have to alternate frames to get both characters to attack (or reconfigure the button setup). Hmm...you may very well be right. Axel has few redeeming qualities compared to Blaze. In fact, his damage figures are weaker almost all the way across the board.

Argh! It took me all day just to do this much! Well, I guess I shouldn't be rushing this, but damn, this very well might take all summer to do. (disregard the pause before the movie ends...I forgot to stop it until then)

There's some hesitation in the start. You don't start moving as fast as possible. This could be for enemy movement manipulation of course but it looks strange. I really liked how you combined regular attacks with team attacks though. It could turn out very good. Did you frame advance the menu in the beginning now? Did you keep in mind that both players can input menu commands?

WOW. Even though that's short, it looks great. 2 player seems to be an advantage as far as speed is concerned... By the way, I noticed a glitch in the game when I was bored. I made a 2 player game with Skate as player 1 (can't remember who player 2 was), and Game Over'd player 2. Then every time I press B, Skate does some weird flashy thing and gets a huge amount of health removed from anyone he touches in about 2 seconds. Maybe this should be investigated? It should be of use, especially if it works with other characters too...

If I start running with Blaze immediately, the Goldies move out of running range. Then I would have to chase them down, costing more time in the end. It doesn't really matter either way, though. I still have to wait for the two enemies from behind. Did you frame advance the menu in the beginning now? Did you keep in mind that both players can input menu commands? Really? Crap, well I guess I'm out 2 or 3 frames. By the way, I noticed a glitch in the game when I was bored. It should be of use, especially if it works with other characters too... That's the Super Skate glitch. I've always heard you got it by letting Skate get killed without moving, though...

It's not a glitch. It seems to be hardcoded to switch to Super Skate if you lose a life with zero points. You can move around if you want to as long as you don't get any points. The menu thing should be very minimal, and doesn't detract from the entertainment. So never mind unless you for some reason start over.

Progress: through the first set. This is going really well...it's amazing what you can do with an extra player. This will definitely be more entertaining than the 1P movie.

Meh, whatever. It still might be of use :P

Super Skate is boring to watch, and he requires taking damage anyway, so it's null and void. I fear I may have desynched it by 1 frame, so I saved it as a different filename just in case. I accidentally loaded a save out of order in frame advance, but I did not advance a frame. I'm not sure if this will desynch the rest of the movie, so I decided to stop here and make sure. Edit: Phew! No desynch. I'm safely through set 2 now. Things are looking good... Wow. 500 rerecords already...

Well, keep it up! By the way, how do you manage to throw the other player without them taking damage? I read somewhere that you press B+C to do this, but it never works for me...

There are faqs for this kind of stuff. But basically you either 1) just throw your coplayer with a non-slamming throw (away-B for Axel Blaze and Zan) 2) grab your partner and press C to jump over them.

Progress: see current post. I'm kind of disappointed about this part. Vaulting over doesn't work, so I had to throw the first time with Blaze (throwing with Zan also doesn't work, and they have too much health to be shield-charged). After that, tossing the last 2 Garcias and having Blaze scroll the screen was faster than waiting for Zan to catch up, throwing him, and running with delay. Surely there's a faster way...any ideas?

My Internet at home has been cut off, so I won't be able to post my progress again until Monday. I think I know how to improve on the Garcia wave part, though.

Progress: see current post. As usual, no progress today thanks to two desynchs in a row. I'll never get this done. Note: I will edit this post with future progress, so check this topic occassionally.

All right, you guys have been silent for long enough. I need some feedback already. If I'm wasting my time on this, go ahead and tell me so I can go do more productive things.

CONTINUE!!!!! Or else I will rip your brain out with a rusty spoon because your brain obviously can't be working if you can't see you're making a time attack that has the quality of 10 stars. Seriously though, I just watched and wow it was amazing, incredible variety of moves for a beat em up and the interaction between Zan and Blaze was both funny and entertaining. I'm sorry I didn't post earlier but: -I don't know a lot about this game, I just know it's really hard on hard mode. -This is my least favorite Streets of Rage game, but you are making the most entertaining Streets of Rage run so far. -I just saw it today. I don't care if this is slower than the 1-player run (like you said more enemies) because it's a lot more entertaining, and entertainment is more important than speed for a game like this, right? Only one question: I thought the sword wore out really fast, does it not lose energy when you grab before the animation for the charge attack is completed?

Well, you didn't edit the post with future updates as you said you would. I'm not going to redownload it just to see if the file has changed lately. It's ok to doublepost (at least with me) to tell us what you have done so far. I looks like it could be very good when it's done. It's certainly looking promising at the moment. I liked the fake infighting. One thought: did you try teamattacking the agents, or is it slower? They get up kind of fast. >Only one question: I thought the sword wore out really fast, does it not lose energy when you grab before the animation for the charge attack is completed? Yes. You can see it wear down when the attack is finished all the way (which it is a couple of times). Bare Knuckle 3 had a lot more of these glitches where the weapons didn't deplete their energy, but most were weeded out for the conversion into SoR3. This one remains.

Well, you didn't edit the post with future updates as you said you would. Actually, I did. I updated it every single day, as a matter of fact. The filename just remained the same every time for convenience. In the future, I'll probably just post when each scene is done instead of the editing. One thought: did you try teamattacking the agents, or is it slower? They get up kind of fast. It would have just been slower, seeing as it would knock the agents off the screen again.

Woohoo! After weeks of hard work, Stage 1 is finally finished! And if that wasn't good enough, it's currently around 5 seconds faster than my 1 player run! *breaks out the keg*
