There are so many TASs already, but how many classic games are there that are greatly in need of a TAS and would be really cool for the site to have? It's getting hard to come up with more classic games, but a few that come to mind are Link's Awakening, Super Mario Kart, Chrono Trigger (never played it but I know it's very popular), and one of the Pokemon games (whichever one would make the coolest run, I wouldn't know since I haven't played them). Can anyone think of any more?

I'd vote for Super Ghouls n Ghosts. I know someone already did it but from what I've read it didn't get very popular. Maybe I should post this in an own thread but I got an idea for how to speed it up. There is a level select code for this game and one could start the game on the default difficult settings, beat the second last boss and then automatically start over in the search for the bracelet. The good thing now is that it's automatically on the hardest level and you sort of don't have to complete the game twice.

Someone is already doing this and they are already using the level select to jump to 7-2... edit: also, PAPERBOY!

-Gunstar Heroes, 2 player on Expert difficulty. Jackic already has a run, but this run would be a lot more entertaining (possibly like the 2 players battletoads run), plus with the flame chaser you can write names! -Shinobi series, Neofix's runs don't count because they are hardly perfect. Except for the NES Shinobi, which is just a bad game. -Sonic 1, though it looks like either Xebra or Ouzo is going to complete this. -Mega Man Zero series, Xaphan is redoing his Zero 4 run and Zurreco said he would work on this someday. -Castlevania Bloodlines -Lolo 2 and 3 -Castlevania 3 Grant run (don't know if this is different enough though) -2 player Contra and Super C runs -MUSHA and the billion other Genesis shooters that exist. -Yoshi's Island, Spezzafer had some great work, but it is on a very long hiatus/cancelled :( There are still plenty of games to TAS, which is never a bad thing. EDIT: This game isn't really popular at all, but I would like to see a run of Atomic Robo Kid. If nothing else, it would be really fast with the speed powerup.

edit: also, PAPERBOY! Is Paperboy just a game you want to see done, or is it a classic game? I just checked gamefaqs, and judging from the number of walkthroughs and the activity level of the message board, it doesn't seem like such a popular game. Anyway, a few more classic games would be Oracle of Ages/Seasons (though they're not quite as classic as LA), Super Mario Land 2 and 3, Metroid 2 for Gameboy (I'm not sure if this is popular or not, but it's a Metroid game so I guess it's at least somewhat popular), and Secret of Mana (I don't know anything about this game except that it's popular).

Nobody has done Solar Jetman yet, although I think someone made a test run a while ago. I would also like to see a run of "The Fantastic Adventures of Dizzy". I'm not sure if either of those games count as "classic", but... And where the hell is that Lolo 3 run someone was working on? I'm still waiting for that one...

I forgot about Genesis games. I don't have a Genesis and I don't know anything about what Genesis games are classic besides Sonic the Hedgehog, but here are 2 lists from gamefaqs so maybe some of these are good ideas for TASs: Top 10 FAQ Pages 01 Sonic the Hedgehog 3 02 Shining Force II 03 Sonic the Hedgehog 2 04 Sonic the Hedgehog 05 Shining Force 06 Sonic & Knuckles 07 Phantasy Star IV 08 Zero Wing 09 Streets of Rage III 10 Shadowrun Top 10 Message Boards 01 Sonic the Hedgehog 02 Shaq-Fu 03 Shining Force II 04 Urban Strike 05 Valis III 06 Zero Wing 07 Phantasy Star IV 08 Ooze, The 09 Arch Rivals 10 Shadowrun

That depends on your definition of a classic. I never played SMB2 as a kid, but I played Paperboy all the time. Therefore, I am more interested in a possible Paperboy (or Paperboy 2) than I am in a lot of hyped games.

We need a Bad Dudes 2 player run.
A hundred years from now, they will gaze upon my work and marvel at my skills but never know my name. And that will be good enough for me.

That depends on your definition of a classic. A game that's popular and stands the test of time.

I'd love to see Lolo 3 actually ;) That's a great game. And Pocky & Rocky for SNES must be made! Frenom, will you pick it up again? Your WIP looked great if I remember correctly.

The Immortal Dungeon Master Secret of Mana Paperboy is a classic but I'd suggest doing Paperboy 2 on Snes.

I agree, it’s getting much harder to come up with good run ideas. I don’t mean just fast walkthroughs, but games that would look AMAZING with re-records. I’m focusing on speedrunning until I come up with that something amazing. Some game ideas, off the top of my head: Gens: -Ecco 1 & 2 (I don’t see one up yet) -Vectorman 1 & 2 -Castlevania: Bloodlines -Bible Adventures (might be funny to watch) -One of the Shinobi’s -X-men 1 & 2 -MK 2 or 3 with Shang Tsung (This could be crazy!) SNES: -EVO -Anyone do a 2-player SoM yet? -Super Adventure Island -Super Ghouls n Ghosts -Yoshi’s Island For NES, I tried Bonk’s Adventure, Cattou Ninden Teyandee, and Athena the other day. None of them seem too interesting to watch, and for an old, poorly designed game, Athena is surprisingly bug free.

I made a 1 level run of Paperboy just now to test, looked pretty funny ... perfect delivery while running all over the place, making fun of the not so good collision detection, and smashing non-suscribers' windows whenever possible. Paperboy 2 seems to have more action going on, and you get to throw more newspapers (but not as fast), but moving around too much makes you go slower ... Here's more games of which I made unfinished runs, some of them should also be interesting: NES - Air Fortress (shooter fun then good platform action, use password for 2nd quest to make things harder and more interesting) - Amagon (just plain run and shoot, but still shows godly reflexes) - Castlequest (platform puzzle) - Commando (left+right and up+down causes funny glitches) - Destiny of an Emperor (this one would be long and slow, but a good low level boss only run with luck manipulation) - Dragon Warrior 2 - Kakefu Kun no Jump Tengoku - Speed Jigoku (not that great but moves fast) - Lee Trevino's Fighting Golf (wanted to score perfect shots, but the aiming doesn't allow enough precision) - Little Ninja Brothers (RPG with 2 players and action battles) - Pinball Quest - Qix (makes the game look a whole lot easier than it really is, with luck manipulation) - Quarth (combine Tetris with a shooter and you get this, play 2P Tag Match) - Ys III - Wanderers From Ys SNES - Bubsy 2 (this game is too damn weird, but fast and looks funny) - Civilization (with a lot of strategy planning and luck manipulation, could be quite interesting) - Dragon View (RPG with 3D overworld and sidescroller action) - Lemmings (play music with the job select while waiting)

Plok, Boogerman, and Earthworm Jim come to mind. I might just have a warped sence of 'classic' though.

I'd be interested in Civilization, Lemmings, Destiny of an Emporer, and Dragon Warrior 2. All tough games to plan and execute flawlessly :P

EVO is an incredibly strange game that can either be done in 2 minutes or would take multiple hours, depending on exactly how optimized you can get transformations. Super Adventure Island isn't worth speedrunning; it was great fun to play, but it's incredibly boring to watch, largely because you just can't speed it up that much outside of keeping the skateboard through parts of the level you're not supposed to. Yoshi's Island and Super Ghouls 'n' Ghosts would be cool to see, though. (And I plan to take on Super Ghouls 'n' Ghosts at some point in the future, as you can see in my sig.) 2-player Secret of Mana would take months. Surely it would be interesting, but still... I'm not sure it's worth the amount of time it would take.

Dragon Warrior 4 would be more interesting, in my opinion. But then again, it's a bit longer, too. Lemmings 2 would probably be more interesting than the first lemmings, if for no other reason than that you can break the monotony by switching tribes more often than the first Lemmings switches backgrounds. Plus you have a wider variety of tools and whatnot. It'd be even more interesting to see someone save every single *censored* lemming, 'cause it's pretty hard to do in some levels.

Y'know, I was just wondering the other day why no one's done Earthworm Jim yet. I'd do it myself but I'm completely unfamiliar with Gens and the series in general. Though I would like to see runs of all of them.

Who is it? Last I checked Walker Boh was the only person interested in doing a run of it, but he was working on Zombies Ate My Neighbors at the time.

I'd like to see some more action on the Genesis arena, so I'll comment some of the suggestions there: Michael Fried: 05 Shining Force 02 Shining Force II I think someone was experimenting with these. Was it Nifboy maybe? 04 Sonic the Hedgehog In progress soon, hopefully. 07 Phantasy Star IV Highness tried out PS2. I'm not familiar with the series. 08 Zero Wing Just on the list because of the All Your Base phenomenon. A speed run wouldn't be interesting, probably. 09 Streets of Rage III In progress by atro city. 02 Shaq-Fu Done and submitted but for SNES. Boring. 04 Urban Strike This could be interesting maybe. As well as the rest of the Strike-series. 05 Valis III 08 Ooze, The 09 Arch Rivals 10 Shadowrun Don't know about these games. Sleepz suggested: -Ecco 1 & 2 (I don’t see one up yet) I have plans to do at least Ecco 1 some time. FODA did a couple of levels but I'm sure they can be improved. Ecco can go at silly fast speed, so it should be fun. -Vectorman 1 & 2 Zer0 did an attempt at V1. I didn't think it looked like a very exciting choice for a TAS. -Castlevania: Bloodlines Could be good. And everyone seems to like Castlevania, no matter how many runs there are. -One of the Shinobi’s I'm planning on doing Shinobi3. -X-men 1 & 2 X-men 2 has been done many times by /*-, each improving a little. It has some quirks which makes it interesting. I don't know about 1. -MK 2 or 3 with Shang Tsung (This could be crazy!) It could and would. Highness had plans for doing MK2 but on SNES. There are huge desynch issues which I'm not sure wether they are solved yet or not.
