Abobo's Big Adventure would be fun to see, and I think that TAS people would enjoy playing it too!

Is Rogue Legacy TASable? It is compatible with Windows XP. It would make a good TAS due to the difficulty of the game, its popularity and how incredibly broken the controls would be in a TASer (you can twitch left and right with no momentum whatsoever). It might require a mouse to play, though, but that seems to be getting worked on anyway (by Brother Mojo et all) http://www.gog.com/gamecard/rogue_legacy Minimum system requirements: Windows XP / Vista / 7, 1.6 GHz processor, 1 GB RAM, AMD X1950 Pro/Nvidia 7900 GT DirectX 9.0c-comaptible video card or better with 256 MB VRAM or more, Direct X 9.0c-compatible sound card, 400 MB HDD, keyboard, mouse

Mouse is currently not supported. It's being worked on, and hopefully we can provide it in the future. I will not give an ETA.

Oh, I was wrong, there's nothing you need the mouse for in Rogue Legacy. So if it works in hourglass... it can be TASed right now.

Then hopefully someone will start TASing it.

I tried Rogue Legacy demo. It crashed from startup with hourglass. However, it asked me to install .NET framework and XNA framework, and I think we already observed that XNA games are not working.

Ah yeah, that wouldn't work then. Maybe in the future then :)

Risk of Rain (Either do it while labeling it as a specific version since it's still being updated, doing it as an experiment TAS for the same reason, or wait until it finally finishes updating for good.) Within a Deep Forest (Possible glitches involving physics to speed through faster?)
This be your first timing seeing me, yes? Don't expect me to be the Uber TASer, because I'm not. =/

None of those are likely to happen anytime soon, as Hourglass doesn't really handle "modern" games well. There's a reason why all of the Windows TASes so far have been for comparatively simple games, and it's not just because those games are easier to TAS; those games are possible to TAS.

The biggest problem that I know of with modern games is that they need more hooks. For mouse currently in Hourglass we tell the game the acquire of the mouse was ok, then we return error on all the device queries about it. This has to confuse the hell out of the game code. Another issue is sync-ability over installations. Everything is theoretically fixable, but developers are needed. I spend most of my free time currently rewriting everything regarding window-management as it (while working pretty good for most games) has serious issues with coordinates that cannot be fixed in the current implementation. The coordinates problem is the major thing holding mouse support back right now.

Please keep "game X doesn't work" to the Hourglass forum. This is for wishlists only.

Whenever Steam games can be TASed, I think it'd be cool to see Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures run, and maybe broken (who knows?).

Not to rain on your parade, but Steam games are going to be the least compatible for as long as I am involved with the Hourglass project, if the game runs without the need to run Steam or have an internet connection, then it can probably work (see Super Meat Boy and VVVVVV). Otherwise we'd need to hook the Steam API, and that can create all sorts of problems that I don't want to face.

It is a rather trivial API to stub. Most games will just accept the calls doing nothing. Or we could log them and edit in fake achievement popups.

I'm aware it is fairly easy, it is also fully against Steam's EULA for the SDK, and can be used to pirate Steam-games. Hourglass in it's current state does not in itself grant the user the ability to run an illegal copy of a game, while cracked versions of games can be run, Hourglass is not the enabler. Adding the Steam API would make Hourglass an enabling tool. And THAT is what I was referring to.

Would it be possible to point Hourglass to the DLL you're expected to use? I.e. provide a path in a configuration file somewhere or something. Then you could point it at an "enabling" stub DLL without having to distribute that DLL with Hourglass or generally associate it with Hourglass in any way. Or just use the standard Steam DLL if you want to play a Steam game with savestates and slowdown without trying to make a movie file.

What's in the current code that makes mouse coords incompatible? :o
