This game is put on permanent hold. At the boss in Cave of Bad Dreams, instead of tossing skulls for me to make platforms the boss consistently jumps down a pit and disappears. After 20 retries of the boss he did the same thing, so I don't know if it's a problem with the ROM or that, since I was test running and died a few times at him that it triggers him to disappear, but I'm just plain dropping this. It's a shame, because now I can't even contribute strategies to SDA....
This was the problem, and Why we stopped. I'll check again, but, Not until after the new year as I will be busy until the second. If this can work with what I assume are now newer versions of Mupen, I would say go ahead. If someone could find a way to skip this or something else will happen, I can see this happening. But that is mostly why I gave up, After completing some of the game to find it wont happen I lost motivation.

Quick Update: I have not had much time to work on this, as things in the movie/play I had been cast in picked up, I am constantly on the move. Do not worry, when I get the chance again, I will continue working! this is a long run and I expect it to take a bit, But i will keep you posted the entire way!

I have not had much time to tas, real life things are getting in the way. Now i have started route planning, although I suspect it to be Manocheese's route (He did the run over on SDA, althouh I am unsure about the name.) this is going to be a long project, and I am a slow TASer, and When i do not do it for a while, I lose motivation. Any help I can get is fine with me, I just want to let people know that because I have been busy does not mean that I have abandoned the run!

I'll take a look. I do not have much done with my movie, but I will post what i had done. Trying to optimize jumps is a bitch.

I would love to see a TAS of it. Also, this guy has found TONS of glitches, you can take a look at his channel : https://www.youtube.com/user/Cheeseoman

If anyone is interested, I might start doing a TAS of this game. I'm still undecided about whether I should do any% or 100%. There can still be a tonne of optimization in this first area, I just uploaded a video in hope that someone might want to help contribute. WoL WIP: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agjQh_3MaK8

Wasn't there a glitch with the emulator that would crash the game at some point...

Shouldn't the time of the level start when you actually get control of Rayman in level 1? Woods of Light definitely don't take 6:55. The one part I suspect could be faster in where you are climbing the wall at the end. You jump up and then grab the edge and climb up, but have you tried making Rayman put his hands on the walls just below the area where he grabs the edge, so he jumps over the edge instead? That might be faster since you get more forward momentum too.

I just timed from reset to the first frame you see the Hall of Doors. I'm just in the mindset of RTA timing. To your suggestion about the walls, I had thought about grabbing just below, and I actually redid this whole section as i can easily save frames in the slide section. I messed around with some timing and found that jumping up a ledge is a lot faster than having Rayman auto-climb which I don't even know why i made him do that in the video. Overall the new TAS I did saves about 9 seconds from the previous one I did, which is a decent improvement.

The game crashes if you load a save state, in the cave of bad dreams. I got it to work, but I forgot how. Before you go any further, i suggest you figure it out. I did a lot of stuff in this game, please do not hesitate to ask any questions. I was going to start doing the any% following the route taken by Man o' Cheese, at SDA..... so that might be a good place to start.

Watched the WIP and it was pretty good. Something can be polished out. Also, you can skip the scenes with the teensies by rapidly pressing A. You did a fine job with this, try to smooth a few things over and you are set to go. See if you can get the glitch to work in the cave of lost dreams!

So far I've TAS'd up to Ly the fairy in the fairy glades. One thing I've thought about is potential Lum routes. In the sanctuary of Water and Ice I can skip getting the 2 orbs to open the door, but in doing so I could potentially sacrifice the 5 Lums near the explosive barrel. If anybody has any ideas where I can get 5 more elsewhere, or if i should just sacrifice the time to get them. I'm also contemplating whether I should skip the bottom Lums in the tornado tunnel in the Glades as those seem extremely slow to get.

Well, that depends on what Lums you are collecting as of yet. Is the route set up right now so that you have exactly enough for each door? I think we need to see the Lum route you are following before we can make a suggestion.

How optimized is this WIP? I never played the N64 version, but it doesn't look optimized. 3:14 Why do you get stuck on the entrance to the pipe? 3:25 Hitting the ceiling slowed you down. 4:20 Are you sure this step by Rayman didn't cost time? I honestly don't know. 4:25 Wouldn't it be faster to jump down instead of falling down? 4:34 Why do you get stuck on the Murphy block? 4:42 Why don't you go straight to the lum? 4:52 Why don't you jump instead of pulling up? 5:10 You need 4s more than Manocheese in his SS run for that climbing section. And you rarely use edge jumps.

A lot of this is correct, I actually have done an updated tas of this section and saved quite a bit of time. On the suggestion of edge jumps, i've found that they desync a lot when playing back and I haven't been able to find a way to properly manipulate rayman without costing more frames.

Thanks for TASing this game, it was my childhood :D (Played on old PC). Just asking, how many TAS projects are you working on, now? :)
