We also must showcase the tools we use besides rerecording. Lua scripts look very cool for Sonic or Mario jump prediction, hitbox for an invisible sprite, all kinds of HUDs and stuff. FCEUX has a feature where Hex Editor (Memory Viewer) highlights addresses that are changing dynamically. I also could shoot a bit of symbolic debugging.
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.
If you want to show off an unlikely Pokémon catch, you could show Mewtwo being caught in a regular Pokéball; that should be pretty recognisable to any Pokémon fan as being something that shouldn't happen. I doubt there's any way to convey it to people who aren't fans of the series, though.
Personally, I always liked this part in the Super Metroid runs, skipping the boss after getting the bombs.
But I'm not sure myself if it would be a good choice for the video, even for the "slow motion" sequence.

So I've started to create a big list of all the proffered clips. Was my last post TL;DR cause I don't see a lot of categorization/linking happening, although sometimes it's quite clear that it's a boss fight or zipping... sometimes it's hard to tell how impressive the trick is (i.e. pixel perfect or not quite, doable real-time?) So could you check your posts please?
It would even be great if you included a short narrative for the tricks so I know better what I'm seeing... e.g. one of the first clips suggested is Super Mario Bros 2, level 3-2, crossing the gap with a POW and an Ostro, but I don't understand what the POW does in the clip. So it's very difficult to judge how impressive the trick really is. For that one I'm going to use it for a category like "Outside the Box", "Movement tricks" or "Sequence Breaking", but maybe it's also "Precision". Although admittedly this makes me into a kind of independent judge as well, seeing everything from the uninformed viewer's point of view.
So I have IGNORED everything that didn't have a link to the whole run's video so I can see how far in it is even if they were great suggestions. I just didn't want the extra work when it wouldn't be so much work for each one to find links to their own suggestions (and write down a few words about it). It's just more likely you'll be able to find the clip and the right place faster than me if you at least know the game...
So I need the following:
-link directly to the right spot in a video of the WHOLE run
-what episode/world/level it is, e.g. Super Mario Bros 2 3-2 or Mega Man 4 Cossack-2
So don't get me wrong guys, I like a lot of the suggestions and I'm ready to put in a lot of work myself, but the video should represent us as a community and there's limits to how much I can represent the community by myself.

Surely the coolest moment of any run that I've worked on. I suppose my allsoul runs should have something interesting; some of the bosses getting obliterated or an extremely unlikely event occuring (such as getting Muramasa and Lubicant soul on the same frame), but probably not as impressive to someone who hasn't played the game.
As for the music, I would suggest something videogame related. I really liked the song in the last one (Travel Demon by S.S.H) because it was exactly that. The pace of the song was fantastic too because most of the clips were infact very fastpaced.
Also, reusing old clips is dumb. I see half of the clips suggested already being represented in older promotional videos. Surely there has to be more footage than this since the last one, and if there isn't then it's maybe too early to make a new video.

Traveling across this pit in this manner was discussed years prior to the TAS as it helps the route A LOT, I don't think anyone got anywhere near in realtime though. Requires a lot of precise movement, enemy and RNG manipulation (the enemies only freeze semi-randomly).
Even the best player is limited by the speed of his fingers, or his mind's ability to control them. But what happens when speed is not a factor, when theory becomes reality?

Thank you so much Dragonfangs, this is exactly the type of annotation I need for the clips.
Someone pointed out a large part of the clips is old material (as in was used in the old videos), but although it's always the better the more imagination is involved in clip suggestions, there will be a list of all the clips used in this video that can be used for selecting new ones for the next one (from the ones left over perhaps) and this video furthermore will serve a slightly different purpose from the old ones in that it will actually take a closer look at some of them and explain tasing in general. It would be too early to make a new video if it weren't for this difference.

You won't need knowledge of a specific game if, say, you can see all the PC's attacks are criticals and enemies keep missing... But anyway that's why I personally like the idea of having the narrative/commentary going. Makes you able to relay to people things that would be difficult to otherwise.

Just to remind everyone:
1) TAS-only tricks only out of principle.
2) Preferably tricks that don't require a ton of explaining.
3) If possible, obsoleted runs are ideal.
-remember to annotate your suggestions a little (gives them a higher chance of being used [correctly]). See what Drangonfangs did with his three suggestions for a particularly good example.
-ESPECIALLY TELL ME WHAT PART OF THE GAME IT IS: things like what dungeon, what level, what act, what etc... essentially give me a unique title for the trick/passage that separates it from other clips from the same game for my big Excel file.

Why: A fairly unusual way of solving an archeology puzzle. To come up with many of the solutions in this TAS the authors had to disassemble parts of the game to find out what kind of things they could summon, when, and in which situations they would work.

At the same time though, this is a clip that's going to score low on the "clarity" aspect because it requires you pretty much to have played the game to fully recognize what's happening.
I am currently using three metrics to help the process of selecting suitable clips: "clarity", "popularity" and "visual impact" each of which can compensate for each other. Even if a clip scores a 1 (out of 5) on one of them, it may still end up getting used with some extra annotations or somesuch. I've been neglecting to mention that there's also the question of brevity - It's easier to fit in short clips than long ones, so that if the trick requires half a minute to show completely, it has to make up for that in other ways to justify focusing on it for that long.
Actually, I like this one because it's clearly not a glitch or unintended, and it's not inconceivable that someone could get it in realtime with enough tries. It's also clearly very difficult to pull off. So it pretty much typifies what TASing is about.
