First off... I am not a great fan of 10 movies for one game... The current Kirby's Adventure run is very good, but a little outdated. With FCEU and the extra knowledge there is now, it can surely be improved... The fastest way to complete this game might not be the most entertaining. The wheel gets a little boring after a while. I like Kirby alot more while he is jumping, bouncing and sliding. This would suggest a run, without picking up any powers. The problem is, there is a boss fight where you have to pick up a sword, and at the end the magic rod. It would also be boring to watch the bosses, and mini bosses. This can be avoided by making a run, that only picks up the least amount of different powers(only the sword, and the magic rod). I know this sounds a little "lets think of another way to run this game", or like the megaman-buster-only suggestion. I would have some arguments against that, but the main one is, that I think this will be more interesting. I made this movie, playing level 1, so you know what I mean: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/39/Baxter+KIRBYADV.fcm I have a few questions: Did you like it (the movie)? Do you like the idea? Would something like this be published? What can be improved (in this movie)? (It's been a long time since I watched the published run (don't have it on my comp anymore), so I hope there isn't something I really overlooked here.)

There is a certain boss that can't be fought with fireball or wheel, because it grabs Kirby before he can do any damage. I'm not sure whether this applies to the sword too. As for the idea, I don't think a sword-only run (or no-weapon run) will be any less boring than a wheel-most run. Variety is what makes a movie like this [a platform game movie of length approaching 1 hour] interesting. Edit: Added []'d part for clarity

Do you think a movie of the Game Boy Advance version would be interesting, or would it just be redundant? (A Metaknight run would be fun, but unfortunately that's an unlockable.)

Interesting quote as what's practically a Sword-only run would not have tons of it. ;-) Andreas

Did you read the sentence above the one you quoted?

Yes, I did. I do not interpret Bisqwit's comment preceeding the quote as increasing variety by adding another movie, because that doesn't make each individual more interesting/flexible. "Variety is good, so we'll add new different movies to make this happen." I don't think that's what he meant. I also added a ;-). Did you read that? Andreas

To me it looks like you just repeated what Bisqwit said, in a vein that makes it look that it's not what he said. >I don't think a sword-only run (or no-weapon run) will be any less boring than a wheel-most run. >a Sword-only run would not have tons of it (variation) Never mind anyway. It was kind of pointless of me to bring it up.

I'd like to see the game redone, but I thought it was entertaining the way it was done already, maybe with tornado thrown in there like someone suggested in another thread. On the other hand, a movie that shows all abilites would be awesome, but I don't think there's going to be an easy middle ground between speed and variety for this game.

On the other hand, maybe it would be better to get movies for Kirby's Dream Land 2 and Kirby's Dream Land 3 now.

Yeah indeed, trying the other Kirby games would be imo more interesting... That one has already been done and is pretty entertaining to see... So i don't think that bringing restrictions such as "Sword only" would be more entertaining... Let's try the Kirby on SNES, it's pretty fun and I think it'd more appreciated by the others to see a new game instead of a "redoing restricted" movie of that game...

All right, I finally watched your movie. That was pretty slick! I liked the use of jumps to maintain speed. I think you also said in IRC today that you verified Sword to be the quickest power for beating this part of the game because Wheel and Fireball slow you up. So do you think that you'll continue the run, going just for shortest possible time now?

If you want ability variety, you could ditch your current ability at the end of each stage, going into the next one Normal. I think it would be cool to show off the 255 Mike bug as well.
I like my "thank you"s in monetary form.

I'm still doing some testing, I wanna be absolutely sure, but usiing the sword for the first world (the the fcm I posted in the first post of this topic) tends to be faster than the wheel. This would mean that I can continue from that movie, and go for the fastest time possible (without just using the sword). Nrg: I don't think that will create vatiety, since the animation of getting the power takes pretty long. And you have to make up for that time within that level. Also the boss battles would be alot longer.

Basically I'm trying a "as fast as possible"-run now, with no ristrictions like sword only, or anything like that. So I'll stop posting here, I'll use this instead: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=57
