Hello, good day to you all. I've made this topic to bring to the attention of those who may be concerned that the standard command line for x264 encoding:
--keyint 600 --ref 16 --no-fast-pskip --bframes 16 --b-adapt 2 --direct auto --me umh --merange 64 --subme 10 --trellis 2 --partitions all --input-range pc --range pc --rc-lookahead 250 --no-dct-decimate --tcfile-in times.txt
... no longer works for VirtualDub. Please see the following: 1. http://gyazo.com/da1223b4bd00691221fbd36133505d28 2. http://gyazo.com/2f3e68d3235ab21e5de1c73a2a587f3f A -100 error results on all compression attempts. I just thought the FAQs should reflect this fact since VDub may be preferred for some newbies to encoding (such as myself).

x264vfw is sorely outdated. Kind of not recommended to use. Basically, newer x264 has more options that are not available to something older. Sorry this doesn't really help you much...

If you use x264 directly, you should be comfortable with the command line. Otherwise, use frontends such as MeGUI or HandBrake.
