Hello everyone! Long time no see! During the past time, I worked on a new run. It's Spartan X2, the sequel of well-know game Spartan X (Kung Fu). Based on SpartanX, it adds many new enemies and fighting modes, make the game-play more interesting, and I hope you enjoy this TAS.

Game Objectives

  • Take damage to save time
  • Luck manipulation

About this run

Main glitches and tricks

  • 1.For the enemies walking from right, you should jump and kick them at the right time, you may avoid delay. If not the right time, you should hold left+right+A/B to avoid further delay.
  • 2.For the enemies walking from left, you should also jump and kick with left+right at the right time, this can do back-kick, but loses 1 frame or more.
  • 3.For the enemies flying from right, you should press jump then punch/kick button instead of fighting, which can save time than beating them .
  • 4.For the enemies flying from left, you can just hit them in the air, which won't cause any delay.
  • 5.For most boss fights, boss has 28 HP, there is a normal method I usually use, 3 "SHORYUKEN" (-9/-10) but some bosses you can’t do it.
  • 6.For 1st boss fight, after twice hits, the damage on the boss will double. So I change the boss strategy
  • 7.During some boss fights, I use a glitch to charge while walking. When you finish one charge, press up+left/right to walk and you can use charged punch wherever you want.

Special thanks

Before this TAS, I and other TASers made TAS of this game each other, their movies gave me a lot of help and inspiration, they were:
  • 名字帅才恋爱
  • hellagels
  • 仙鹤rrc
  • Mars608
  • 洛克人some
Thanks!

Not bad! Even though the game is basically run-right-for-justice, it has pretty good visuals and music. I'd say it's definitely more interesting than some of the other games we have in a similar category (like Vigilante, Urban Champion, and Bad Dudes). The autoscroller at the end was actually a nice change of pace from the rest of the game, since you got to show off more moves, kill several guys with one blow, and knock down a steel girder with only one kick. The play level looks pretty high. I'm between Meh and Yes on this one, but the nice music and last-stage antics bring this to a Yes for me.

I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. Yeah, that autoscroll section was fun. If this goes in, might I suggest taking the screenshot from when he kicks the guy behind him at about 1:55 (on the Youtube encode)? That whole section was witty.

Wow, this was pretty entertaining! Lots of nice fast action and some funny movements during the autoscroller. It was fun to see the bosses taken out so quickly too. Very good job, Bernka. Yes vote.

Just out of curiosity: why is this being relegated to the Vault and not to Moons? The votes have been pretty positive, and the feedback even suggested the autoscrollers have been entertaining. It's rare for a platformer to make that claim :-)

I was wondering about that too. Why was this published to the Vault instead of Moons? All of the comments were positive and the majority of the votes were Yes.

Admittedly I was a bit on the fence about this one. However, the approval going by votes is only around 70%, which is good but not that great. Most videos with about that rating go to the Vault. (Some examples: this, this, this and this) Moreover, having looked at the movie, I just didn't see enough in the movie to warrant a Moon. The movement is not exactly speedy, and to me, the walking right and jump-kicking mooks for justice was funny, but got repetitive after roughly a minute. The boss battles and autoscroller didn't do a whole lot convince me either. That's why I didn't think this run deserves a Moon. Of course, if enough people disagree, it can always be changed.
http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.

Let's see at the ratings to determine the need for moving it.
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.
