I already worked on this game, with you, and to be honest, you don't have enough skills to work on 3D : Between you and me, in the first room, I was about 100 frames faster with 100 rerecords
Current: Rayman 3 maybe? idk xD Paused: N64 Rayman 2 (with Funnyhair) GBA SMA 4 : E Reader (With TehSeven) TASVideos is like a quicksand, you get in, but you cannot quit the sand

yep, agreeing with you, I'm still unskilled, but he really doesn't have to try 3D at this time. He's already have troubels with his projects in 2D...

Well really, you can only learn 3D by tasing 3D. I believe all the OoT and MM TASers started with 3D. (3 of the 5 I know, definatly started with 3D, the other two I'm not 100% sure)

Well, there are certainly some aspects of 3d tasing that you won't learn by tasing 2d games, but there are plenty that you can as well. It's definitely not necessary to start with a 2d game, but it can help if you do. And of course for someone who isn't very good, starting with an easier game can help. 2D tasing in this case is useful because it tends to be much easier.

From my experience TASing 2D beforehand provides little preparation when moving to 3D games.

I jumped right into Wind Waker, made some silly 2D TASes along the way, but I learned 3D from TASing 3D. It wasn't easy though, took months until I was half-way decent. TASing 2D first just helps learning how to TAS and basic optimizations, it's a completely different game than TASing in 3D. Edit: Also, I'm not planning on continuing my WIP TAS of this game. It really needs to be done in Japanese instead and I made silly mistakes early on. Good luck anyone who wants to do it, it should be a pretty short TAS anyways. The difficulties I see are navigating the Floor 1.5 or whatever and King Boo fight.

Okay, so I did found the Boo RAM are divided in 2 adresses 0115ca10 01155030 Also, they work only in 2 Bytes Float Big Endian EDIT: New Speed address 01317174 Also, I'm making an hypothesis about Position addresses. Sadly, this attempt was bad.

http://www.twitch.tv/firecrotch219/c/2071755 Here's Firecrotch219's tutorial on how to do the entire glitched run if anyone's interested. http://www.dropbox.com/s/cdjwbp533xnydhw/luigi%20wip.dtm USA version, couldnt find jap rom to test with. I made a wip of the first section up until right before training area. I kinda want to do an Any% run with the OoB glitches. First tas so I'm not looking for great optimization yet, still learning the ropes.

Link to video Started work on luigi's mansion. talked with got4n, i need to go back and fix my first walk up the staircase which either means hex edit to add in one frame delay or go back and redo it all. and in Training, i should have reloaded states to obtain one ghost appearance instead of the two ghosts i get on Training test 2 (out of 4? 1,2,1,4 ghosts.. idk) ghost capturing doesnt feel optimized but i have not played the game very long to know any technique about capturing besides aiming the control stick in the opposite direction ( i dont know if that means opposite position of where luigi is or opposite direction than where the ghost is facing ). Anyways! lots to be done :)

On Ghost capture you have to fail to quit it bcs it's faster than doing the Training. But please take JAP. :)

Oh ya I know you don't capture ghosts in training. I was saying ghost capturing for once you get into the mansion with vacuum (which happens after training).

Anyone want to explain the differences outside text for the japanese version? According to here it listed the boo glitch as not working in "U", but then list that it doesn't complete the game regardless unless you complete another area. So if that's the case, why use (J)?

I think it's really only because of faster text (which I think is not a bad thing).

So I went through an any% run trying to recreate all the glitches on the Japanese version. I was able to get to king boo through the Floor 1.5 glitch (very hard to do first time playing). I was NOT able to reproduce the crown glitch on King Boo, I didn't try too many times cause I need to start my homework, but if anyone is interested in my japanese luigi's mansion savestates and memory card file - I'm uploading them right now, I believe Load State 1 is [ During King Boo fight just after hitting bowser's head off ] edit: I know it can be done on Japanese version, Im just wondering if the glitch only works in hidden mansion(vacuum is stronger).

Maybe you just did not optimised text?
