Hey, I'm not really a TAS speedrunner, I prefer to do mine in my actual GameBoy, but I want to use TAS software to optimize my run. My question is this: Is it possible to attach a GameBoy Advance SP to your computer and use it as a controller? I just can't seem to deal with the changed controls. And if I was to learn them, I am scared that I might lose my prowess on the actual GBA SP. So, is this possible? TL;DR: How does one (If you can) attach a GameBoy SP to your computer for use as a controller for an emulator (VBA specifically)

Do you want to do a TAS or a real time speedrun. If you want to do a real time speedrun, using TAS tools is NOT allowed! You need a specific adapter to connect your GBA to a computer.

I'm not trying to use TAS tools to improve my time artificially, most of what I want to do is use the TAS's save state and other perks to practice certain skills and test different routes. When I actually do runs I'll be using the GameBoy Player in the GameCube hooked up to some sort of recording device (whatever it's called). So, the only thing is that I need is an adapter that connects the GBA to the computer, thanks! I was hoping that this was the case. Thanks!

What you're asking to do is possible in principle, and anyone with some ee skill and programming skill could do it. I'm not aware of any end user ready adapter that does it, though.
