Mario Golf: Advance Tour seems like it would benefit a LOT from even just basic trial and error savestate use to pull off impossible shots, it isn't too long (I can beat singles in a few hours unassisted and thats going for everything/talking to everyone and making no effort to be quick). Doubles would be tricker (Neil is terrible at golf unless you are in a sandtrap, then he is a savant)

WarioWare is not considered a good TASing candidate because all games have a fixed timer. It cannot be speedran, and the superplays are not too entertaining. (See the Gruefood for other WarioWare submissions)

Here's my .vbm for you. (Though I notice the quoted message is months old...) (fixed link) Since I don't have my TASing set-up, I figure there's no harm in sharing what I have now. As for my own wishes... F-Zero: Maximum Velocity ... Uh, I'll figure out others somehow. Eye of the Beholder for the GBA is another thought, but... The battles are slow in that version. I doubt it'll be a good run to make. Still, I know about a glitch involving long-term buffs and unequipping the Dagger of Venom in there, in case anyone needs that (cast a stat buff, remove Dagger of Venom, camp, re-equip and remove, camp, ...).

Hi everyone. I'm looking for a game I may TAS. I'd like to do it on a GBA game. I firstly thought about Golden Sun but it will be a bit very long xD So have you got some ideas ? I prefers plate forme games.

Are you looking to learn TASing by doing a game that is well studied, has tricks and runs to learn from, etc. or to do a game that no one has invested TASing effort into before? If the former, you could always do any one of the 'Super Mario Advance' series

If Woody Woodpecker's Crazy Castle is anywhere as trivial as Bugs Bunny, that'd be an easy run to make.

You're not going to set any TAS records while learning how to TAS, so it doesn't matter if it would be 'unpublishable'

You mentioned Golden Sun as a possibility, this is the post for runs of the series. Whatever game you settle on, I'll echo Patashu's sentiment that you won't start out an expert, so don't get discouraged when it takes some time to hone your skills.

Finally, I decided to TAS Donkey Kong on GameBoy. The reasons why : - I've great skills on this game, I know the fastest path. - Not too many levels, I think it would take about 2/3 mounths if I wanna do a presentable TAS. - I simply like this game ^^ So, even if it won't be published, I'll learn more about general TASing. The only "issue" is about how to do it. May you tell me about which emulator, and especially which software to do the input file editing for the GB emulator ? If you want, we can speak on Skype (DerDarak) in french or english. OH ! HAVE A NICE EASTER DAY =D

Do you guys think Toki Tori would make for an interesting/watchable TAS?

after watching plexa beat werster's record by 15 minutes in real time and 2 minutes game time, I was surprised to find out that there wasn't already a TAS of golden sun, is there any particular reason why?

Probably only the default reason: Long + RPG. But assuming you can TAS soft resets and hard resets, the current WR route could be used - BUT. TAS can do even more in depth RNG manipulation, so there could probably be a much faster TAS only route that would need extensive research. That's probably the big reason why.

Wow, how did I not know before today that there are GBA F-Zero games? And how are there no TASes of them? :D http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F-Zero_Climax http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F-Zero:_Maximum_Velocity http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F-Zero:_GP_Legend_(video_game)

I've found a bunch of skips in GP Legend, some of which are intended, some of which aren't (you can determine which via looking at what sort of times the developers wanted you to set in the timed challenge modes). My favourite is probably in White Land — Flower, where the skip takes me something like 10 seconds to set up on console, and I only have around a 10% chance of getting it, and yet it still saves time when I do. A TAS would make it look a lot cleaner, and pretty amazing as a result. (There's a pretty impressive-looking skip in Lightning — Volute, too, which isn't quite as hard, but requires a relatively slow vehicle for me to pull it off on Console; a TAS could do it under more difficult circumstances and so get a faster time.)

I'd love to see colin mcrae rally 2.0 TAS'd on the GBA one day https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkoA839J_yg&feature=player_detailpage#t=49 My favourite mode7 racer of all time, the cars used thousands of single pixel sprites which allowed for full movement, visible damage and dirt. It has a great sense of speed and impressive car physics with different terrain types. But you could also find gaps in the walls on most tracks and could take gigantic shortcuts, I think a TAS of this game would be very interesting

You know you could make a topic for the game and post a WIP there instead of here. Anyway, I'll add to the list (not sure what's been mentioned already). The Invincible Iron Man Has a couple dash abilities, and interesting gameplay I think. Pinky and the Brain - The Master Plan Has abilities and you control 2 characters, though not simultaneously. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 - Battle Nexus Has cool sliding mechanics, and plus it's the ninja turtles. How could you not like it. Any of the Tak Games, though I think Tak 2 would be the most interesting. People have said they would suck but I disagree. Edit: Adding to the list a bit: Ghost Rider Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (was a choice for DTC4 I think) Fantastic 4 - Flame On Metalgun slinger and then these games which aren't the best choices but I'd still watch: Nightmare Before Christmas Curious George W.I.T.C.H. The Scorpion King Spirits and Spells Daredevil (maybe decent actually)
Current thoughts: Hachiemon (J) for GBA.

Personally, I'd love to see a Lady Sia TAS (either Any% or 100%). There's been research going on for ages and no one (as far as I can find) has made a completed TAS yet. I know it'd be pretty baller once finished based on some of the WIPs I've seen.
Somewhat damaged.

I'm surprised neither of the golden sun titles have gotten any love around here

There were 2 Golden Sun submissions, to my knowledge. One being Golden Sun-JP and the other being of Golden Sun: The Lost Age. Both were rejected due to not being fully optimized. There's still hope though!
