(Note: I just started TASing, and this is my first TAS, so as I've barely started, I felt it prudent that I should post a description now, but I don't really have even a WIP yet.) (Second Note: Why did I choose this game? I loved it as a child (although I'm only a teen as of now) and I wanted my first TAS to be something nobody had TASed before.) (Third Note: Please post critique in the comments, but keep in mind that this is almost entirely theoretical for the moment.) As far as I am aware, nobody has made a speedrun of this game, much less a TAS, but any% would be far too boring, as it would involve just passing the ball between your own players to build up super meter and accelerate the snitch phase of the game. The snitch phase starts when the two teams respective power bars meet at a sort of point of equilibrium, and the snitch icon is completed. I decided that doing nothing but passing and snitch chasing would be repetitive and boring, so my goal became to collect all cards, which entails 1. Finishing all training at all three (3) difficulties, 2. Winning all matches and the overall Hogwarts Cup, 3. Winning a training match against each other house team, and 4. Winning the world cup on each of four (4) difficulties. In total, each step requires a number of events or games, listed by step, 1. Five (5) Missions at each of Three (3) Difficulties for a total of Fifteen (15) Missions, 2. Three (3) Matches, 3. Three (3) Matches, and 4. Eight (8) Matches on each of Four (4) Difficulties for a total of Thirty-Two (32) Matches. This equates to 53 Events, all of which must be completed for 100%. However, in each and every match, it is possible to score 160 or more points through goals. If you lead by more than 150 point at the begging of the snitch phase, you don't need to catch the snitch. Therefore, the only snitches required for 100% are in the Seeker Training missions, at each difficulty, for a total of Three (3) Snitches.

How long would it take to get 100%? To me, it sounds very repetitive and long, but that's what the vault is there for. So if you want to do it, go ahead. But if you want to make a more entertaining TAS, you could go for a playaround sort of thing. For this to be interesting, you would need some glitches and exploits, though.
Current project: Gex 3 any% Paused: Gex 64 any% There are no N64 emulators. Just SM64 emulators with hacky support for all the other games.

By my estimate, a good run would be under an hour, and there would be some "playaround" aspects, but optimizing movement, as well as, to an extent, enemy manipulation seem potentially useful for a well-optimized and hopefully entertaining run. However, as I mentioned, this is my first TAS, so if it's bad, I'll learn from it and move on to other games.

I have fond memories of (read: I have played) the PS2 version of this game. Is just passing the ball from player to player the fastest way of building up the meter? I had assumed that scoring goals was the main thing that did that. I also remember team special moves, which sometimes gave you two or three goals, helpful given the restraints you have. Are they on the GBA version?

Good luck getting a "snitch low%" run into the Vault. That's almost as esoteric a goal choice as "14%, speedbooster".

From what I can tell, at least in GBA, goals don't give any meter, other than the opposing team getting meter when the keeper passes after the goal.

Special moves can be used for either one or three goals, three using more meter, or to get the Quaffle when on defence. These all consume meter, as does calling in beaters. In a TAS, I don't particularly feel these will be all that necessary. However, in the cups, you need to score the most overall points to win, even if you have more victories. This is particularly important in the higher difficulties of the world cup, but, once again, TASing means that I can run up the score if need be. Additionally, opposing teams don't tend to use these (other than beaters) but it's common enough to potentially warrant some careful savestates.

Really? It's almost as if it was planed that way! I hope that eventually I can get this to Star tier, but Moon is a realistic goal, I think.
