Game objectives
  • Emulator used: psxjin 2.0.2
  • BIOS used: scph-1000.bin
  • Collect 100% missions
Techniques and Tricks
  • Skip special frames: I found in game when start rush run and sometime turning have 2 frames make character have feeze standing. Then I passed it by a little jump (jump at start rush or 3-5 frames after rush)
  • Run on air: When rushing, character can run a little on air. I make this for little entertaiment, fake fall into hole
  • About collect missions: This run didn't aim fastest, because sometime for collect, I can't jump for skip special frames
  • Bonus stages: In this stages can't make rush, it mean can't make faster normal way. I tried made look more difficult for little entertaiment
Possible Improves
  • I don't know how to write script for detect special frames. I just detect them by my eyes, not sure I can detect all because look all frames nearly same same, hard to detect. With a scripter can easy see them
Thanks
p/s: Pepsi, NOT only my choice :D

Honestly PSXJin emulator needs updates... or a PSX core for Bizhawk... unfortunately many games have problems to run correctly on PSXJin (some games, like Pepsiman don't have music, other games have graphical glitches and flickerings or error at disc changes)... for Pepsiman published probably the encoders needs put music manually... :( For this run i vote YES to help publish, but without the music is a bit "meh". Good luck encoders

I was entertained. You worked to keep it interesting, even though the gameplay is so simple. The 100% goal helped. The levels were varied and increasingly Pepsi-covered, so it got stranger and funnier as it went on. Weak Yes.

Thar was because Pepsi man is really the villain here, turning the world into a police state ruled by Pepsi Corporation. the giant can was knocked down by people who knew what was up, and tried to give him a karmic death.

Aww man, the lack of the Pepsiman theme in that encoding makes it a lot more boring. That theme makes the game! For better or for worse...

I tried to run it in PCSX, with best plugins in history of mankind (eternal spu and pete's opengl2), but there was NO music in the levels. How to even run it with music? Maybe some secret setup for files other than .IMG?
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

I managed to get the music playing by using the ePSXe SPU core 1.7.0 in ePSXe. Eternal SPU 1.4.1 and P.E.Op.S 1.9 (maybe not the latest version, they're just the ones I had around) did not work. I'm guessing the ePSXe SPU core isn't a plugin though...

At least for me, this is a different case. The game can be emulated without functional and graphical glitches, and the music is more like a minor problem.

Last time we had an issue with the music in a Playstation game one of my runs using PCSX. The music was a completely separate process that played independent of the emulator. I ended up having to provide frames for when certain tracks would begin or end just so the music could be added to the encode in post. About the run: Couldn't watch more than a few minutes worth. Simply too repetitive.
A hundred years from now, they will gaze upon my work and marvel at my skills but never know my name. And that will be good enough for me.

If I remember correct, your run had no sound at all. It would really sound like a reject reason. But 1) the Pepsiman game has correct video and sound effects, and 2) seeing at how it is supported right now, I don't foresee any solution for this game within a few years, so: for now it's better to have this run published, especially when the music can be edited in afterwards.

Actually Hourglass runs the game and audio perfectly fine. The only issue is music, which can easily be externally added: Link to video

Do I misremember or did Natt have hacked version of Hourglass (or some other hack) that could dump MIDI music (assuming that game uses MIDI for music)?

Considering that the song opens with "PEPSIMAAAAN!", I highly doubt it's MIDI.

Err, they're talking about Hourglass and Warp, not Pepsiman. You're right though, it seems to be CD Audio.
