Sorry, we're a bit swamped at the moment. We should be transferring it within the next hour.
Yes, but as above, we're swamped with a lot of the logistics. PM your suggestion and adelikat or myself will change it.

Thanks. Good to see the movie screenshots back up again.
Speaking of which, I noticed that it's possible for guests to see the movie screenshots by using the image URLs. Should that be fixed as well?

<dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects.
<Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits
<adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.
Bisqwit, I understand how you feel, but we need to keep up with the times and take a professional outlook considering the tough economic times. This is an excellent opportunity to offer better content to consumers while securing devoted TASers a solid, stable income. TASing can be done with such low expenses that this offers a great opportunity for the unemployed younger crowd with lots of time and limited resources. Maybe we are heading for a time when a TASing career is something one can proudly and confidently announce to prospective employers. What a great way to get ahead in today's competitive job market.
Indeed, this initiative is finally making TASing a professional pursuit. I've just quit my job and will be devoting at least the rest of this year to TASing. I can easily get 4:42 in SM64 with the ideas I've built up but I'll release the improvements in small increments to make more money.
Nach, et al., I salute you! You are creating flexible jobs, helping young people advance in life, and at the same time improving an already excellent source of art, entertainment and inspiration for generations to come. Let TASing and professionalism finally unite!

Now people will just be releasing runs for the money, even if they are not optimized or the best they can be. Plus as someone who cannot afford the 25 dollars a month, this sucks.

For the people who can't afford the $25: I'm planning on releasing my Donkey Kong Country TAS later on. Though signing up for TAS videos Pro will give you an earlier view of it. Part of the contract says that I'm not allowed to release it for three until three months after TASvideos Pro publishes it.
It's worth both the money and/or the wait to see it though, I assure you!
The above is just a flaming, flagrant example of a lack of respect for the property and effort of creators. Experiencing your statement feels like the Old Order delivered a bitch slap to my supple soul. This development is both necessary and sufficient for the development of TASing as a legitimate career path and a worthy art form. History is ripe with examples of monetization and the turn to professionalism developing clear scientifically verifiable improvements in terms of value. Otherwise I refer to my exquisite model exposition in my post above.
I am really beginning to question the validity of this business model. How much are the elite TASers prepared to live on? For the business model to work at all, a hundred subscribers are required for every elite TASer, which is nowhere near what the site is getting at the moment. This venture is doomed without some serious restructuring of the business model.
I would be happy to offer my beloved TASvideos some financial advice, but now that you are a professional outfit, it won't be coming cheap. The going hourly rate is about $200 but I'm offering $170 an hour or $6000 for a 40-hour week. I'll be worth every cent.
You are right. But I still doubt this kind of business model can be profitable in the end, considering the effects of splitting the community that it inevitably has (and that has already been witnessed here).
I was thinking I could do special episode only for the Pro members. Comment only the best runs with the best TAS makers and only available for people would are ready to pay for it.
It's will be only for the pros, I'm thinking of a pay per view system. Could we elaborate a kind of partnership ?
Thanks. Good to see the movie screenshots back up again.

Yes, I see someone who is not logged in can access all the images. It should also be easy for anyone to figure out the URL to each one. You guys should fix that.
Also, why is my game's image not updated yet?
I just bought my membership. I have to say it is pretty awesome. I like how the new BizHawk pro emulates the 3DS and Wii U. I also see the beta core for the PS4 which looks promising! I can't wait for these TASes. If I could donate to cure cancer of buy TASVideos PRO I would choose TASVideos PRO.
Projects:
Interested in TASing N64 Mario Golf.
GBA Mario Tennis: Power Tour is on hold.
Nach, seriously, you are going too fast with this. A monthly fee? MONTHLY? I don't think thats a good idea at all. Mario 64 in 5 mins? posible actually, but 25$ for a month in a PRO service for watching new videos? NO, that can't be possible...
This is just a stupid joke for your american festivities right? I hope it is, because I'm just pissed right now.
O yea, like your location says YOU found a new way to torture TASers... Kudos to you!

Grrr....
Okay, you found a major loophole with what we were planning. I feel like we should now scrap the whole project, but I really don't want to, adelikat and I already laid out good money for this.
It's clear we won't accept runs unless they really are the best. So if you hold onto something which we notice, we won't accept it to pro. On the other hand, you could toy with us with small things continually that we don't notice. Not sure what the best approach is. Perhaps a minimum threshold for improvements? Then again, you'll just try to find a loophole with that too. Maybe a limit on how many times you can submit the same game and route each year? This needs more thought.

The whole point of pro is to not accept a single movie there unless it really really stands out and appears flawless. Think of it as only supplying allegedly flawless star tier.

Based on what Johannes said above, and some of the ridiculous feedback we're getting, we'll need to rethink this. Perhaps our pricing is indeed too high.

Eh, I'm not too worried about that. If people want to figure out our structure and steal images, big deal. The main thing is to ensure they do not have access to the movie files themselves.

How about this? Guests can watch a vid on your stupid site 3 times a day... Whatdya think?
Being insulting is not a way to get your desires met.
I'm willing to consider options, ad-supported entry, trial limits, and stuff, but not if you're going to be disrespectful about it.

Ok sorry...
But seriously! You should have tell us you were PLANNING this from the beggining! If you should told us, you wouldn't got insulted and got all of that feedback. You should think more about this before it gets any further.

I didn't read this thread at all, but I just want to register my opinion that everyone who registered for these forums before-- say, June 21 2004 to pick a number out of thin air-- should be automatically be given a subscription, and maybe a thank-you card for being early adopters to the original money-pit of a website.
I think the free subs should go to members who joined before the end of 2009. Because it really represents the "new decade, new leaf" theory that Nach and adelikat have been aiming for. Think of all the TAS enhancements that have happened in the last four years.
