In this video, I start with the same savestate but act completely different : Initial : Time match (infinite) with only pokeballs on high 1- Choose Sonic and go FD against random cpu lvl 1 2- Choose G&W and go Battlefield against random cpu lvl 3 In both, the cpu is Ike, and in both, the pokemons who appear are : - Moltres - Latias - Goldeen - Entei - Togepi Pokemons might be manipulated using other item (making a sticker spawn instead a pokeball for instance), but that would waste some seconds :( And there are so many thing to manipulate too...

I just wish there was a 2p TAS of adventure mode (subspace emissary).

That would be amazing. I watched a solo speed run of the SSE, and I think a co-op TAS would make a great addition to this site.

That... is a great idea. EDIT : So I tried the beginning : Link to video It's obviously improvable (and I think Kirby might be faster), but that sounds really fun. I think I will try to make a TAS of this ! Also, do we still need an A/V hack to encode audio ?

To be more accurate, this is what I get when I try to dump the audio : Link to video I tried to change the audio API, enabling dual core and stuff, but the audio dumping always seems to act weird when a cutscene is played and when a match is happening. Note that dolphin actually sounds normal, it's just the result that sounds weird. I'm using a 8gb version of Smash to get all the cinematic, if that can help.

I have never been able to get the sound to work properly on dolphin. Most people have dual-core off when they TAS. do you think that has anything to do with it?

1. Is choosing Kirby faster for the long term? Is there any battles later that make choosing mario faster? 2. Unfortunately, seems so. That or editing the video.

Kirby should be faster vs Mario thanks to kirbycide, but I have to test. Choosing Mario or Kirby only affects this fight, you can change characters right after this fight. Sheik and Peach should be faster for the rest of the stadium (turnip time !), if I can't get Sheik right at the beginning I can just use Mario.

I can make good encode now ! I still have to manipulate the audio a bit but now it's watchable, thanks to Fog ! Also, I had to use another iso, I think I modified 50 times the one I had and I completely forgot, so I took a clean one. Because of that, the AI changed and I had to take a hit but I improved the first fight : Link to video I have to stop dashing with P2 at the beginning to manipulate Kirby. I'm still looking how to improve this, especially killing him fast without getting hit, and once I get something optimized I will try with Kirby and see if I can be faster. I won't upload anything else until I get optimal result now.

Nice work, dude! I'm glad someone is working on a TAS of this! I've loved the super smash bros series since Melee first came out, so I'm stoked to see more progress on this.

Nice first fight! It's awesome that you're working on this. I think it'll turn out to be really entertaining.

Thanks ! :) So I improved Mario's time by 1 second (by not getting hit lel), but Kirby was still way faster. I basically just forced Mario to suicide and then helped him to die faster. For the second part, I though stitch face would OS everything... not even close. It's still pretty good, so I'm still using Peach, and Kirby is here to kill the cloud. From what I found, the item that the enemy drops depends : 1- Of the position of the players 2- The number of item on stage 3- If a player hold an item So I tried to manipulate as much as I could without wasting time by trying, see the item, load a savestate, try a different pattern, etc, and then choose the best item. Right now this is the best I got. Link to video I still didn't finish stadium, TASing with 2 players at the same time is way harder than I though :p

That's amazing. I can't believe nobody's made a SSE TAS before!

Link to video I loose a bit of time at the end, but is it worth it ? Also, these kind of levels are a bit hard to optimize... :s

I want all good TAS inside TASvideos, it's my motto. TAS i'm interested: Megaman series, specially the RPGs! Where is the mmbn1 all chips TAS we deserve? Where is the Command Mission TAS? i'm slowly moving away from TASing fighting games for speed, maybe it's time to start finding some entertainment value in TASing.

Wait, does the mushroom only increase damage for items you generate, or anything you pick and throw?

I know in melee at least it increased the knockback of anything you threw (and probably damage, but I never checked).

It does increase the damage and knockback, but it also throws the item way further which makes it hard to it stuff with. I could use Peach to send enemies in the air while giant kirby destroys everything though. I really need to figure a way to get the idea of the next item pulled by Peach, but cheat engine just crash with this game :| (Too many address I guess ?)

Ok I got cheat engine working, it was my bad if it crashed. Does anyone have ram addresses for this game ? I need some badly like id of the item Peach is going to pull, or the number of the hammer of G&W (but Peach is more important really). I saw many boss TAS with Peach getting them super early -like that boss TAS - so I was thinking that someone already found them ? (I'm also trying to find address by myself of course, I'm just asking just in case)

I got a question. For killing certain enemies with very high HP or bosses, would it be faster to manipulate a trophy stand to objectify them?

As I understand it, trophy stands only work if the target is already at low health; otherwise they just deal some (relatively small) damage. Could be worth looking into the mechanics to see if there's a random element that could be manipulated, though.

For the bosses, I'm pretty sure they will be dead before an item can spawn. TAS is really fast. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=brawl+tas+boss+ Also, once you watched these intense boss tas, remember that these are solo boss runs, so the coop should be even faster.

Didn't make much progress on this, had exams and stuff, I improved the second stadium and made a first route (who to save and stuff). I mostly just studied the game (thanks to the wiki from the PMBR which is awesome) Anyway, right now I need to solve the Peach case : I made a test, the RNG deciding which item will pull Peach is different for each port (1 to 4). So player 1 and player 2 won't pull the same item. I got a Gecko Code that changes the item that Peach pulls out with her down+b : 4A000000 8098D528 D2000000 00000003 2C060056 40820008 38C000XX 60000000 90DD08C0 00000000 where XX is an ID from this list : http://opensa.dantarion.com/wiki/Items_(Brawl) This code affects ALL the ports, player 1 to 4. I would like to know if it was possible to get the RAM address from this ? (I know I may have asked this question before but... I failed to do it on Billy Hatcher, and I want to try it again here). Any help is welcome ! EDIT : I'm an idiot. Ok, I understand how the code above works now... Annnd I just remembered the existence of PSA lol. Time to look at Peach's PSA !

The princess are the best at sweeping the floor of the stadium ! Link to video I'm trying to find that one early hit against Piranha. Will figure it out and move to stage 2 ! I'm kinda worried about what will happen when I will have a very fast character and a slow one... (Pit and Mario) The trophy stand only does a certain amount of damage. If it does kill the enemy, then he will become a trophy, else he's just going to lose some HP. And it's slow to use. So I didn't use it here. As expected, this game AI is super hard to manipulate, especially Mario (1-1) and the clouds (1-2) :s

Sad the trophy stand wasn't used, but oh well. Also, there's a button iirc that drags the 2nd player to the first, so that could be used (sparingly). Edit: Also, would any stickers be helpful?
