I'm creating one since one doesn't exist.
Spain vs. The Netherlands: no one expected that result. Spain got WRECKED. If only the Dutch played like this four years ago, I wouldn't have been stuck with this sig for that time.
I would like to add that the Brazilian crowd is amazing. I love the cheer they do at every goal kick and it's good to hear the ole-ole chant again. A huge improvement from those ridiculous vuvuzelas four years ago.

Let me start here by putting up a gif of by far the most glorious goal ever in history of the match:
Never has the term "Flying Dutchman" been more apt.
Anyhow, yay for the Netherlands crushing Spain 5-1, way beyond anyone's expectations. This is going to be good.

The Netherlands played amazingly. Spain was really bad, but that doesn't take out the dutch merit. Poor Casillas, I feel bad for him.
Also, the referees are doing hilariously bad at this start. This last game was decent at least.
The first match will be the hardest for Greece (not that any of them will be easy in that group). I hope they do better than at the last World Cup (let's not talk about that...)
And besides that: Wow, I can't believe that Spain got destroyed like this! I wonder if they will manage to recover.

Switzerland defeats Ecuador with a goal in the 93. minute!
Behramis one-man show that lead into this was the best part: First he manages to stop an attack of Ecuador, he falls down but gets up and still keeps the ball. Then he runs toward the middle, where he gets attacked and goes down again. But again, he quickly gets up and keeps the ball. Finally, after running across half of the field, he passes and Switzerlands attack leading to the goal begins.
Now France is next. They are very strong this time, so this won't be easy. But I know from previous years that the Swiss can do very good against France, so I'll be optimistic.

Initial stage is "round robin," meaning that each group sees everyone play each other once. Best two teams advance to a single elimination bracket. 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw, 0 for a loss, tiebreaker by goal differential.
So, a group of four,
Each team play 3 games: one against each other.
Then the best two are selected for the next round which is like a tournament: win or elimination, no second chance?

Yes, after the group stage it's a K.O. system. Only the losers of the semifinals get to play another match, the unpopular match for 3rd place.

Well, I didn't think a big tournamend like this would force te teams to play so little games... Am I missing something? I thought it would be 2 games against each teams..

There are 32 qualified teams/countries. If each of them had to play each team twice, that would mean each team would have to play 62 games. In total, that would be 992 matches played. It would be completely impossible to do that in any kind of sane timeframe for one tournament. And as said above, it would tire out the players as well as make it all much more expensive.
With the current system, teams would have to play 7 matches if they reach the finals, which I'd say is already enough. It also gives every team a minimum of 3 matches (in the group phase), so it's not like the other teams would have too little to do either.

Lol'ing hard that Japan could not capitalize against a Greece (of all teams) with ten players. Totally not surprised at all. 70% possession and not a single goal. Absolute rubbish team. They remind me of England: a lot of talk but nothing to show.

SUCKERS!!!!!!!! :3
Japan had a lot of fouls against them.
Greece down a man.
Greece got a bull Yellow Card (Walked out the room to get stuff on the other 4)
Japan having most possession of the ball.
Reason why I'm not shocked about the possession status in a nutshell.
As a person who is supporting *Greece, I'm happy they didn't lose in this match.
*Because I care less about Australia.
