Same. They got some really big chances near the end, but unfortunately failed to capitalize on those.

Yeah, he missed the entire ~90 minutes of the knock out process Uruguay had to endure.

Chile indeed deserved something out of that game. Brazil were unconvincing and were lucky to advance; their MotM was the crossbar/goalpost. Brazil vs. Colombia will be an interesting match, and hopefully Brazil does something about their defense.

Holy crap that Netherlands - Mexico match was tense. Managing to come back from 0-1 behind and get the 2-1 victory like that in the last 10 minutes of the match.

Mexico became too defensive after taking the lead. There was still 40 minutes left and they just sat back and let the Dutch come at them with everything. The game was bound to equalize sooner or later. Interesting fact: nine of the twelve Dutch goals have come in the second half. Although I can't say for sure, it looked like Robben went down too easily. I gotta see the replay a few more times to be sure. Suspenseful finish though.

Yeah, I can't believe Greece was unable to beat two teams that went a man down against them, or that they weren't gifted a stoppage time penalty just because. It was cool to see them advance, especially because it's my father's team, but they have played pretty poorly since their EuroCup win and honestly didn't deserve to move ahead this time.

Nice game by Algeria. The German first half was atrocious.

Algeria should have scored a goal du ring the first period‚ sadly they couldn't :/ Awesome game though‚ very fast-paced!

Although I'll cheer for Germany the whole way, their performance in this tournament so far as not convinced me. I worry for their quarter-final encounter with France. In other news:

I hate football. So. Fucking. Close! But I still have to say that the Swiss played an incredible match. They brought Argentina to their limit and eventually got unlucky at the very end. It's so sad to lose like this :(

You had your team get to the knockout round, much less qualify for the World Cup, which puts you ahead of 100+ other countries. Don't feel too bad about it. That being said, Wondolowski messed up the easiest shot that would have put the US through, but alas, we are out. Thankfully, Germany is still in it, so at least I have that going for me. At this rate, the final is going to be Columbia vs Netherlands with Die Oranje winning it all. Everyone else is playing boring toothless soccer.

Pfff... Neymar is out of the world cup. Although he didn't play well today we aways trust him to make the difference. Anyway, hopefully we can do well against Germany even without Neymar.
