If it's basically impossible for you to TAS (with current emulator capabilities) if the camera is screwed up, then TAS it in the way that maintains your sanity and note it in potential improvements for the next run. It'll be a sick TAS anyway due to tower of sorcery/clock room OoB/etc so I wouldn't fret over it ;)

It's definitely not impossible, it's just difficult because it reverses the camera. Seriously fuck the game designers who programmed the camera in this game. I wish the boss camera didn't exist or it could at least go away once you move far enough. Obviously they didn't intend for you to skip the boss.. Anyway, I figure I'll try to see if I can maybe glitch my way pass the boss door. I tried the press "L" to levitate cheat and if you go over his door, he never spawns (you still fight him at the end though.) If I could clip pass the door It would be awesome. I need to play around with glitch finding a lot in this game before I ever go for a serious run it seems. There is a lot of glitches waiting to be discovered I'm guessing and I don't want to miss any. By the way, maybe someone could help me. I'm trying to find some memory addresses with this game. I mainly want the speed address, so if anyone could help me that would be great.

http://www.twitch.tv/cosmowright/b/433989563 It looks like cosmo found x, y and z addresses and some other stuff, maybe you could use that to help you find speed (keep in mind it might be x vel + y vel + z vel, or it might be y vel + horizontal vel + angle it's in, or maybe something else I haven't thought of)

the TAS should definitely do the boss skip for FoS! also here are some memory addresses I found in mupen rerecording x 00C3C450 float y 00C3C454 float z 00C3C458 float minutes 00C756AC byte hours 00CV756AE byte HP 00C756BC short subweapon type 00C756C0 byte subweapon ammo 00C756CA byte power level 00C7576E byte i also found some random enemyHP addresses but the game uses different ones a lot of the time so you should probably look into it yourself

Nice I'll leave it in your hands, Nahoc. This game has a lot of TAS potential, but like I said my time is limited and this game is a lot harder to TAS than I thought. I think I would rather do a 2D game and I trust the end result would be better in your hands. :) Anyway, I will help you anyway I can. I'll try to keep glitch finding and/or help in any other way. Edit: By the way, I discovered something small. It may be useless in the grand scheme of things, but who knows? Anyway, if you put the put the pick up item button on autofire (c-right I think?) and jump backwards on a slope, you can stop on the slope were normally you would slide down. It only works on certain parts of a slope. I've been experimenting with it near the boss door on the slope, trying to get clip past the door.

Not really... the funky camera for the boss skip just make it so difficult to accomplish...

I understand.. hopefully you won't get burnt out like I did. If you get past this hurdle at least the rest of the game will be much easier and less annoying to TAS. I wonder if a camera hack is possible. I doubt it's feasible though.

I found a way to spam Holy Water faster. It only works on Reinhardt unfortunately, but I figured I'd post it for the hell of it. Link to video I was also seeing if he could skip most of the tunnel level. Near the start is the platform where the moving platforms come. Unfortunately you can't make the jump it seems and you just slide down the slope into the spikes. The slope is too steep to do the trick I found previously. Too bad cause that level is pretty long and boring.

I've been able to get onto the platform where you wait for the blue platform from the starting area, but unfortunately the blue platform won't activate until you activate the red one. If you could somehow get across the gap over to the other area (right before the red platform) similar to the starting area you could get to the red platform faster, however you still have to go down the elevator at the start and kill the two spiders, otherwise the red platform won't activate when you stand on it.

Oh I see that sucks. Either way I guess even if it's possible it would be TAS only. I have been speed running with Reinhardt and been trying to find things applicable in a SR. I have came up with some real nice boss strats for the Villa bosses though. I am just scared of the damn cog skip with Reinhardt. I'm trying to find a good setup, but it's just pure luck and a run killer.

Around 3 or 4 years ago there was a lot of chatter about a potential TAS of this game, with Ogre and Nahoc doing some good work. That being said, is anyone trying to actively create a Carrie TAS now? I know the camera can complicate things, but a lot of interesting new exploits are being discovered which could make for a very entertaining final product. I've toyed with the idea myself, but I am curious what the community thinks about this.
