I have to test a theory at the moment, because if it would work, I would have to redo a part of the second level. I'm also messing around with Gex 3 a bit, we're still trying to find a way to beat it with 0 remotes. I'm so sure there's some way... If you really want to help, try to find glitches.

It's very frustrating: Technically, we can already enter the final bossfight early. There are two TVs where you can cancel off, go OoB and enter the boss TV. The positioning in front of the boss TV is very specific, and I don't even know if the OoB is needed (it definitely would be impossible without it in real time). The TVs to cancel from are Superhero Show (26 remotes) and a bonus level (31 bonus coins). Recently, the community has timed both TVs and found out that it is faster to go for the bonus coins. But why only these two? It's because of the physics of TV cancelling: Every TV has a range, in which Gex will automatically get sucked into the level once it's activated. This can be stopped by cancelling it with an attack every 18 frames, not being on the ground, or certain animations. If you stop cancelling the TV outside of its range, the game will crash, unless you're in the range of another TV. It actually is possible to break into levels early this way, although it was never achieved from flat ground, but from precise falls from above. Now the problem is, that the range of TVs is much larger horizontally than vertically. The two levels used to break into the boss TV, are both high enough to be out of range. The frustrating thing: There's a 0 remote bonus level in the same area! The game designers just happened to place it at the bottom, so that its range overlaps with the boss TV. I tried many things, I even managed to "disable" the bonus TV with lag while cancelling from it, but it still wasn't possible to enter the boss TV. If that bonus level and the 31 coins one had reversed locations, Gex 3 would already be dead.

I see. Just one Question: How do you get into Funky Town without getting one remote in the first place?

There are clips in Mission Control, they allow you to enter both Slappy Valley and Funky Town early.

Has anyone actually timed the psx version to the n64 version? Even though the cutscenes are in the way. I might guess the DCG (not going of topic) might be faster on psx. Anyway i am making a couple of early boss videos when i get the chance

PS1 version you must listen to everything Gex says and cannot be turned off. N64 version you can shut Gex up. ~3 Minutes of time saved by doing it. ...and some other stuff and N64 is much faster by a greater time (for an RTA).

You can also skip the second boss on N64, because the exclusive level gives you enough remotes to fight the third boss, without ever visiting the levels past the red gate. Defeating the third boss opens the path to the very top of the overworld, from which you can just jump down past the red gate. Gex 3 is also done on N64, the thing can be done under 30 minutes non-TAS.

i have a quick question. would it be faster to switch delay and the fall and respawn at the start to go to giligex island. this might be a little bit faster. but idk if it is or not

It's fastest to just jump down there.

I can't remember if Gilligex early is possible, but even if it was, it would be pointless. You definitely want all the remotes from the first area, and you will have to watch all the level opening cutscenes anyway.

Zandergoth found a really simple, but useful trick in Gex 3 to exit bonus levels faster after getting the remote: http://www.twitch.tv/zandergothsrl/c/5708366 It needs to be a remote you obtain directly, without a TV. Normally, you will get a result screen after the animation and get sent back to the overworld once you skipped it. I can't believe no one ever thought of just pausing and exiting during the animation! In Gex 64, this can also be used, even with bosses! You will still have to watch the gate opening cutscenes, though. Good thing I had problems with my motivation this year (RL-problems), it would have sucked to learn about this after Gilligex. I'm still confident that sub 40 is possible.

I found this Wrong Warp to the final Boss Fight yesterday. Link to video This was done on the PS1 version, but if it also works on the N64 version it would skip getting 7 out of 33 remotes also on N64. Andy and I are testing it right now, but getting to the Rez TV area is wayyy harder on N64 than on PS1.

This is the new Slide TV Cancel that was found. Credit goes to Reece and me, Reece came up with the idea that the jump after a cancel might have happened because of Gex sliding onto the button but I tested it and found out how easily it works. This should save a lot of time in both Any% and 100% as a ton of new Death TV cancels should be RTA viable (not frame perfect) now. Link to video
