Post subject: Improving part of a movie file

Some background: I'm TASing Pitfall in BizHawk, like any normal game, until I realize that on one of the screens, in the middle of my existing file, there's a possible improvement. My question is how does one improve parts of a run without causing desyncs or destroying everything after that part in the movie? In case it's relevant, I'm running 1.7.4.

http://tasvideos.org/InputFileEditing.html#PlaintextFiles For BizHawk 1.7.4 you need to decompress the bk2-file, then open the part with the inputs in a text editor - notepad++ for example.

How would you decompress the file?

It just gives me a garbled mess. I've seen this type of thing before, but I don't know how to turn it into input that I can edit.

When you're in the folder where you bk2-file is, right click it, then select 7zip and click on "Open". You should now have a window with the movie data, including a file called "Input Log". Double click this one and select Notepad++.

Also, if you're opening Input Log through 7-Zip, you will need to go to Tools>Options and in the Folders tab, set Working Folder to "Current". This will allow changes to files inside the bk2 to be saved back to the file (otherwise they are saved outside the bk2 and BizHawk can't read them).
