It seems you can't super guard environmental attacks. For example when magnus stomps and makes the ground shake. I'm finishing a playthrough to finalize a good item route that is slightly different from before. I will begin the TAS very soon. I'm also working on a Google site to keep track of all the tas progress and strats and findings. I'll post it when I'm finished everything on it.

I finished everything on my site pretty much. https://sites.google.com/site/ttydtas/ If there's anything you feel is unclear or should be added, please say so. I've finished the new item/peril route. For example, it turns out that the Power Plus badge actually isn't faster. Peril status strats are easier because the Japanese version doesn't replenish your health.

Koopsless doesn't work in (J)? I assume the other buildings weren't able to be used instead in chapter 4? Also since chapter 3 is basically destroyed, is there anyway to skip parts of chapter 4 by reactivating chapter 3?

So, is J definitely faster now purely based on gameplay differences?

Anyone doing a TAS of Ultra Hammer Early? Would love to see a better video of it being done.

jlun2: Superslides work differently. In order to skip Koops you have to do a superslide in Chapter 4 to skip getting the shop key. Superslide mechanics are different, and therefore I can't skip him. andypanther: Yep. LTTP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28z7IucO-Rw

I meant is it possible to use a different house to slide in other than the one used in (U) to skip the key?

On the Comparison page, the doc isn't actually published (open in anon browser): https://sites.google.com/site/ttydtas/comparison[/quote] Everything else looks good!

Nope, there is no other house that works. Fixed, riking. Thank you for noticing that.

Any potential discovered for this?

Let's start first by saying that it is mandatory that I beat chapter 4 to get Bobbery and start Chapter 5. Therefore, the only part of chapter 4 i could skip is not get Vivian, but if you battle Doopliss without her, the game freezes. And you need her in Chapter 6 to discover that ghost on the train. Reactivating chapter 3 would waste a lot of time too because I don't actually have to go to the Chapter 2 cutscene like in RTA. Also, I thought ticking would go on forever. It stops when you enter chapter 4 haha

That means I lost time. In all those scenarios the time loss was out of my control. It was due to the Japanese mechanics of the game in 3 of the 4 scenarios. In the fourth, the transition sequence in one of the rooms took longer. I had compared it to my old TAS and found that the time had not been lost from inside the room.

Great work, Malleoz! I loved the old TAS, and I'm sure this new version will be even better.

I have an idea for a possible sequence break. I haven't tested this, and it may not work, but I think it has a good chance. I can't test this myself because it requires Ultra Hammer Early, and therefore JP TTYD, which I don't have. It would go like this: -Follow Malleo's route up to the start of Chapter 3. -Sign up to be a fighter, and continue normally until Yoshi hatches. -Go to Rogueport Sewers and open and enter the pipe to Chapter 6, using the Ultra Hammer to break the block. It would probably be faster to open the Chapter 5 pipe at the same time. -Read the message on the Sanctum to set the game state to Chapter 6. -Go to Twilight Town. As far as I am aware, having the game state set to post-Chapter 4 lets you go down the Twilight Town pipe whether you've been there before or not. -Open the Tube Curse Chest to set the game back to Chapter 4, and continue through the game from there. If this works, it would skip Grubba and the Gold Star, and the post-Chapter 3 cutscenes. It would also affect levelling because you don't fight Grubba. If it doesn't work though, I'd be interested to know why. If somebody could test this that would be great!

Ok well I screwed up the timing by looking at the VI count instead of the actual frame count. The real time is 13:05.35. Sorry haha. Very intriguing idea! I don't necessarily know if the cutscene sets the game to Chapter 6 because I haven't tested much. I'll see what I can make of this. Thanks!

I'm 100% certain the Sanctum cutscene sets the game to Chapter 6. It's really easy to check what chapter the game is set to beacuse it auto-fills your map with places you "should" have been to (places added to your map in Thousand-Year Door cutscenes). The game also adds the Crystal Star for the Chapter it thinks you're in. This works in reverse, so retriggering say, Chapter 2 after completing Chapter 4 will remove Glitzville and Creepy Steeple from your map entirely, but Twilight Trail will remain. Just something interesting I've noticed :)

I don't have a savestate anywhere near there, so I have to play back a dtm of a playthrough, and then I will test that tomorrow. Thank you very much for the idea, and I hope this works. edit: Link to video

If skipping gruba ends up feasible, would skipping yoshi be possible or is he needed later?

Hi Malleoz, I'm super excited by your working and I support you in the TAS. Also, I would have an idea in the same order than Really_Tall, it's for cutting chp. 2. - Get the Elder Puni's Badge to gather punies (because it won't be available). - Do UHE, trigger chp. 6 ang get back in Big Tree with the blue pipe. - Go to pick up Super Boots (assuming the path is free). - Break the panel to gain the 101 punies. - Finish the chp. 2. I don't think it would save a lot of time, but because the time loss would be very low with blue pipes, you could skip both jabbies fights, blue key and the detour to get Super Boots... with luck there wouldn't be ticking anymore. Could you verify if it's doable and it's worth it?

You need Yoshi to get the Chapter 4. Another great idea. Thank you. I'll have to test this too, luigi1er! I'll test this tomorrow as well. The only problem is if I trigger Chapter 6 to skip most of Chapter 2, then I can't skip Grubba. I'd have to do some more testing to see which is faster.

1. How many things are able to (re)activate chapter 6? 2. Rather than just reactivate chapter 6, how about one of them activate chapter 5, and the other skip use chapter 6?

Maybe get into the blue pipe would trigger chapter 5, but it doesn't matter since to trigger blue pipes you need super boots... and makes my idea irrelevant since I ask them after.
