gamerretro2's encode: Link to video Opinion: Nice run, but I think some moments can be improved: a fight with butterflies, rocky (canyon) level, level under water, final level. Some time is wasted on climbing where you can just jump on! I can't say that anything else is slow because my PC is broken. Are you sure that you did actions in the first possible time? Can camera move faster on the last level? In some moments it was moving slowly.
TASing is like making a film: only the best takes are shown in the final movie.

Because I really don't really have any time looking into it.... Final input in the input is frame 44935. It can probably be earlier but I like I wrote, I don't actually have the time to properly look into this TAS for its input and shit.

How much time did it took you to TAS it? One day?

After a few minutes and little effort, here is a 43 frames faster version of the first level: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1548977989/Pinocchio%20TAS%20lvl%201.gmv

Now you're a real boy! To be honest, I'm amazed at how good the graphics and animation is in this game. It looks like Disney themselves worked on it. Too bad the music and ending sucks.

Rather boring. Plus, Tompa has already proven it's unoptimized. No vote.
effort on the first draft means less effort on any draft thereafter - some loser

I’m going to give it a meh vote. I really enjoyed the game’s graphics, but didn’t enjoy the fact how quickly it was made. I don’t want to disappoint a beginner with a «no», because I am hoping for a better version from him, so, it’s a clear «meh» — nothing special for now, try again harder. Also, being only 43 frames behind an expert player is really good start, I think.

In my opinion, it lacks of entertainment in the TAS. Plus, there's also some improvements you can do. Dimon12321 mentions them: jumping to the rock instead of grabbing it, or in the last level, I don't know if you can stay on the corner of the left side, then jump or lean the characters whenever there's rocks. This could boost a little the entertainment.

avec l'experience tu verras qu'une journee c'est parfois le temps que tu mets pour optimiser 15 secondes de gameplay, donc un TAS complet... au debut on est chaud on croit que nos oeufs de lump sont du caviard or que c'est super pas optimise continue de bosser et a un moment le gout de l'optimal viendra tt seul trad with more experience, you will notice that a single day is often the time you use to complete only 15sec of gameplay...so a complete TAS... at the beginning you are entouthiast, thinking your lump-fish roe is caviar, but your work is just unoptimal continue try and try and you will gain the optimisation power and sens
ACE is my raison d'etre!

It's within first level only.

17 of those frames where improved in the beginning menus even. Some other improvements, like going down the slope at the beginning, were found after 10 seconds of playing the game for my first time ever. I also noticed that the second level was slower than the real time record. I haven't done any more TASing myself for this, as I don't know anything about the game. But finishing a TAS of this length in one day is always a bit alarmin, which also shows in the amount of rerecords. I spent more during my couple of minutes of TASing the first stage. It surely needs some more effort and testing. Keep tesitng different strategies in levels and time them each to find out what is optimal. For the second level you'll have to find out a way, if possible, to manipulate the enemies to travel in such ways that you can defeat them quickly. That is nothing you do in a few minutes if it should be done right. And in general: This game is pretty slowpaced for a TAS. But by putting some extra hours in it will sure make it better in the end. Could be published as Vault later on perhaps.

Thanks, captain! :) Seriously, try to beat AIZ1 with Knuckles 43 frames slower than me, and you will see that it’s worth mentioning as a good start. I keep my opinion.

It depends entirely on the complexity of the game. Most Sonic games have much more complicated methods of movement. When most of the first stage (which constitutes barely 20 seconds of gameplay anyway) is just "walk right", it's much easier to get close to an optimized run's time. EDIT: Also, Tompa only put a few minutes into his version. It wasn't seriously optimized.
