Link to video I don't know if this can be improved... unless you get a bat the whole time, maybe. Stupid Pikachu though, he always gets sent upward instead of sideways with the bat...

As far as I can tell, little research has been done on the subject, but I wonder if you guys could figure it out. In some circumstance (vague, I know), if an item leaves your hand, no momentum is applied to it and it just floats in place with an active hitbox. http://youtu.be/cW25EnMzzRI?t=1m18s http://smashboards.com/threads/ryokoyaksa-vs-magus420-and-the-floating-stitchface-help-us-solve-the-turnip-glitch.235806/#post-7508209 http://smashboards.com/threads/ryokoyaksa-vs-magus420-and-the-floating-stitchface-help-us-solve-the-turnip-glitch.235806/page-3#post-16336347 It is speculated to be specific to Melee V1.0, but that isn't confirmed. Could potentially be neat for a playaround or for the competitive scene if its use is reliable.

Also, could someone look into this, which suggests that you can change Nana's AI for when she isn't "attached" to you? There's a good bit of anecdotal evidence building up. http://smashboards.com/threads/leveling-up-nanas-reference-ai.363085/

Went back to re-watch some Melee TASes. I'm a bit concerned that someday those videos might just vanish. Perhaps Wak's Youtube channel might one day close without forewarning and poof, all HRC TASes for each character are gone. So I'm asking, should we do something? I was thinking about downloading those videos to hold on to them.

Downloading them is a good idea. There are plugins for chrome and firefox that make it easy.

And there's a command line utility that I can confirm makes it easy. Check for updates whenever it breaks. http://rg3.github.io/youtube-dl/

I know how to download youtube videos. But I don't know how to host them online (like in dropbox or mega.co.nz). I wanted to raise awareness that these videos may be gone someday.

There's an old but useful feature that allows the account owner to download all uploaded videos in the originally uploaded format. I think it is called Google Takeout. But obviously that would require the owner of the account :D It's useful if you lose a video from your hard disk.

yeah that would be a great idea. I had all of my videos stocked in an external HDD here but all of a sudden it corrupted a couple weeks ago and I lost everything that was in it, including all my TAS videos.

I tried to improve captain falcon btt but I only tied AJP until 3.95 so far. That has brought me to this idea: When you land a phantom hit on something, do you experience hitlag? Can targets be phantomhit?

The attacking character of a phantom hit does not enter hit-lag. The character being phantom hit will enter hit-lag. In theory you could break records by phantom hitting the targets, if possible. However, the set up may be mindbogglingly infeasible. I do not know for certain if targets can be phantom hit though. I can test this when I get my USB drive back from the manufacturer in a week or two, if you want.

I would love that thanks! On another note, I think Roy riddle 10 is possible now. I need to test it but looks very doable to me now. Roy's side b loses "floatiness" after the first use in midair so it becomes hard to travel across the map. But my old riddle 9 video showed that it's possible to travel to the left part of the map even with the 2nd use. The 1st use can be used to break the bottom right walled target (which is so hard to reach) and you can still go on after that. The dolphin version that I use doesn't let me record AVI though so I have to wait for advice/a fix.

To answer your question, no, targets can't be phantom hit. the hitbox is different for characters and targets. Also, no one has ever, ever, done a phantom hit in 14 years of BTT yet.

I'm going to update the SSBM TAS page so it keeps track of realtime records as well. I'm asking for help that someone figures out the true Total scores (because something like 0.01 s is truly 0.0166 or whatever, and something like 0.1m is 0.328ft etc.). In the past, I've always added all the single scores together but I want the true scores now. EDIT: It seems a handful of the realtime world records are no longer available on Youtube. There is no other right choice for me but to ignore those scores. Sorry. And this is another example of videos vanishing from Youtube, guys. Please take it seriously and I hope someone can archive the videos at some point. I currently don't have the resources to do so.

I will make a list of videos that seem lost forever (at least YT tells "not available") and videos they got replaced with for the time being. Again, I don't know about you but without a video, a text string that says 7.43 doesn't have any meaning and I will not be able to add something like this to the page. I'm going to have to use the next best videos I find. Captain Falcon BTT marth1 7.43 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WmU_uJTImI > Demon9 7.45 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gw7fDKDuTuw Mario HRC Sin2324 1358.5m http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cB5SgyK54Q > Elemist 1351.1m https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0PbMUv7iMg Yoshi HRC tipo 1772.3m https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7gDr1B7k4Y > MAC 1651.0m http://wrvids.com/SSBM/Home%20Run%20Contest/MAChrcYOSHI.wmv Link HRC tipo 1088.1m https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Prw28tlrVU > Clad 1042.3m (PAL) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZYWcyMD92E If anyone has the original, or a video with a score better than the ones listed after ">" then please link them here.

Not sure if you've already used this, but: http://www.gamefaqs.com/gamecube/516492-super-smash-bros-melee/faqs/17242 Here's an old SSBM HRC guide on GameFAQs that has non-Youtube video links to the world records at the time, as well as links to external sites (scroll down to Section 11). Some of them are surely broken by now, and I haven't thoroughly checked against the current records, but some of them might be useful for your compilation.

Copy the link, open a new browser window, and paste the link into the URL bar. This removes the referer [sic] tag from the page request, which is what websites use to detect such hotlinking. It's possible you'll need to do a force-refresh to get your browser to actually serve up the new content instead of a cached copy of the "sorry no hotlinking" page.

marth1's 7.43 falcon video is in his compilation: http://youtu.be/enN23O0u-Mw?t=1m16s i also have 7.80 jigglypuff: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfYipznKTyE 6.03 sheik (pal): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CtYxFG8miU 5.46 pichu: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6j8mfKmw458 i also made an excel spreadsheet that calculates exact total times by converting each time to a frame count, summing the frames, then converting back to a time: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/42729144/btt%20calculator.xlsx i filled it with the current real-time WRs, including those with no video enter the times in column B and don't change anything else. i hid frame counts and intermediate values in column C and D. feel free to use it however you like

This video is "unavailable" for me.
i also have
I updated.
i also made an excel spreadsheet
Thanks. The problem is that I don't have excel installed on this computer and I can't easily get it again.. There was a stupid reason for that but I don't remember. So I'm going to have to wait for another solution, or maybe you will be willing to post the total here every time? But I can only consider video records..

Just get LibreOffice. It's free, open source and fully compatible with all MS Office-formats.

here's a google sheet then, which you can make a copy of: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1X1EwBB7IjPGBAqxJ5mLJzGCEC2nAPyfDZCc-Q6M4Cgs updated with only video records. i'm not sure why you can't access marth1's 7.43 video though.. maybe blocked in your country? with 7.43, the total is 3:01.99. without, 3:02.00
