Super Aladdin is a pirated port of the Genesis version of Aladdin to the NES. It's fairly decent, but very short due to the fact that only half the stages were ported over. It's also rather glitchy.

Glitches and Tricks

Clipping through walls

Due to the nature of Aladdin's falling animation, it can be used in small spaces to clip downwards. This is used to skip some platforming in the Desert.

Wallclimbing

Jumping constantly at certain walls lets Aladdin climb the wall. This is used in the Captain fight to easily murder him with apples.

Sword Tricks

-When jumping at the ropes in the Agrabah Rooftops, slashing while jumping sometimes lets you grab them earlier.
-Using the sword lets you skip any poles, ziplines, and ropes while the animation is playing.
-Using the sword before taking damage lets you skip damage while the animation is playing. (e.g. constant autofire makes you practically invincible to obstacles.)

Stage by stage comments

Agrabah Market

A straightforward stage. I jump up a rope and hit the exit trigger early, skipping half the level.

Desert

You need to collect the two scarab halves before you're allowed to leave. Pretty easy. A clip was used to get the second half easily.

Agrabah Rooftops

Unfortunately you need to grab the rope flutes in order to beat the stage, so not too much glitching getting to the bosses. The last fight with the Captain is easily broken by walljumping to behind him and throwing apples, instead of the intended way of jumping and slashing.

Rugrid (That's actually what it's called in-game)

A typical autoscroller. For some reason Aladdin glitches out when you mash down. No clue why.

I'm not going to optimize every single jump I make while walking. Besides, I did test just in case autofiring is any slower while doing certain actions. Most of the time, it isn't.

feos: Thus bootleg's run could potentially be obsoleted by a run of some other NES Aladdin bootleg, if the latter is liked more. How the port was made ends up looking a bit boring, but it has some variety of the original preserved, so I don't think it's a Vault case. Accepting to Moons.

Hmm... something bugs me... hey Random, what Aladdin pirate did you chose exactly? Theres like 3 or 4 of them on the same system, so did you chose the best one or the worst one?

In terms of quality? This one by far. The other ones are quite horrid, and also based on the other ports of Aladdin. (E.G., the SNES and GBC ports.)

Rephrasing what I wrote on IRC after arandomgameTASer went offline: Why did you choose this version? This has the fewest levels (3 missing from the originals), the last level is the easiest (AFAIK both staying top and down is instant win). This game must win an award for the most appalling color choice on a NES game period. Especially "Rugrid", eww... That said, it's interesting how the run compares to the original game. Amazingly, both runs are similarily glitchy, but have different kinds of glitches. It's a shame half of the stages were skipped, I wonder what other glitches there may have been. Also, some variation in the color scheme goddamnit. Voting yes, although I can't be sure it's a moon or a vault.

It has all the trapings of a bootleg tas; dancing, severe glitches and more effort being put into the tas than the game itself. Yes for me.

I thought this was a pretty well done run, and I actually liked the jumping (he jumps like a monkey!). I did get bored in the middle of watching it, but I don't think you could've done much to help that; it was the game's fault. Voting Meh.

I'm pretty sure we need some of those pirate NES ports of Aladdin TASed. I think I shall accept this one, with potential for the SNES port to obsolete it if liked more, but rejected otherwise.

Uh, what? This is not a hack. I don't see how it makes sense to obsolete a run of this game with (hypothetical) runs of other games. Are you applying hack rules to unlicensed game rules again? Those still are two completely different things. You can't just take a rule that applies to one and apply it to the other. I thought you learned this last time. (Note: I do agree with the overall decision of this judgment (accept to Moons). But it's the rationale behind the judgment that is iffy, again.) EDIT: I suppose it's up to debate how to handle multiple similar bootleg games for publication, but it's still wrong to class it as a hack in the judgment notes when it is not a hack.

Heck, I simply miswrote. Editing it now... Yes, I personally think that if there are several bootlegs on the same console within the same franchise, we must publish only the best one, unless some super exceptional case.

Hey, if you are looking for another pirate game to TAS, the Waixing Wizard of Oz game has a pretty cool level end glitch. You can pause the game while any level is ending, and load a different save, and the level end transition will follow.
