I guess now's a good time to show just how much I love BizHawk right now. This may not seem like much, but on psxjin and pcsx-rr, both Harry Potter PS1 games would never make it past the first page of the first cutscene/book, as the narrator would never speak. The game would still run, but there'd be no progress. When getting to this cutscene in BizHawk, I have to admit my heart leapt when I heard Jim Dale start to speak. (btw the bad framerate is due to my laptop: working with an Intel Celeron 540 over here, with a basic integrated Intel GPU, not really the best for, well, anything).
Finished TASes: Bonsai Barber Currently working on Super Mario Galaxy 2 Green Stars (not likely to be on TASVideos due to savestate anchor and no verification movie). Cancelled but might return: FAST Racing League

I have a question in relation to image format, as can be seen in these two screenshot, for the same game for the PAL version or the NTSC version, format changes, there is there a way to change that? Screen 1 Screen 2 Here is a screen of the config used for both Config The game seems to be well emulated for both versions. This is good news, because I have never managed to launch the N64 version the emulator crash every time.

r8568, grabbed from EmuCR. Kingsley's Adventure (USA Disc), SLUS_008.01 checksum as reported by a movie (md5?): 1D669C5525046F3DADFF2D714CD4495A BIOS: scph1001.bin (sha1:10155D8D6E6E832D6EA66DB9BC098321FB5E8EBF) Kingsley cannot be controlled by with the analog sticks, this works on a real playstation when an analog controller is plugged in and is quite mandatory to be able to TAS this game. I TRIED to test this in mednafen, but I was unable to figure out how to use the analog controller. I googled / read the docs for about 2 hours without getting any wiser. If someone can explain how to do it, I will test in mednafen. If more info is needed, let me know and I will try my best to produce! ==================== A suggestion to save checksumming times during movie-game matching: Use the game-id, there's a file on the disc named after the game's release id, if this doesn't match it will be like trying to play a (U) movie with a (E) ROM. So if this file does not match, skip checksumming and error immediately. (Checking the name is enough, in the Kingsley example, the US disc has SLUS_008.01 as that file) ================== This core is gonna be awesome! It's pretty close to Xebra in emulation as far as I can visually tell. And for the LOLs: my computer is awesome enough to run this PSX core at 5 fps.

phoenix1291, PAL and NTSC have different format. therefore, the format changes. this is not only by design, it is by logical necessity.

You need to push the Mode button when you start (get control of the main character) it seems for it to know about Analog sticks.

Zeromuss, thanks for your quick response, I was wondering if there was a way to remove the black bars at the top and bottom on PAL versions, even if the format is not the same as the NTSC version? Do they really have a logical necessity? Thanks in advance for your answer!

Well, I finally got around to ripping a Spyro 2: Gateway to Glimmer disc, but I can't seem to get the game to run. I assigned the BIOS to the (E) slot, but the emulator seemed to look for the (U) slot. When I tried assigning that to the (U) slot and then load the .ccd file... the emulator gets stuck on a black screen. Here's my BIOS, as copied from the Firmwares screen: PSX E BIOS (E) PSX BIOS (Version 4.1 12/16/97 E) SCPH7502.BIN 524288 sha1:8D5DE56A79954F29E9006929BA3FED9B6A418C1D -------------- EDIT: I solved my problem! I just needed to download the latest build from emucr.com and the game ran. So far, so good:

Question: How are memory cards handled in the emulator? Are they per game like SRAM or is it an actual virtual memory card like ePSXe?

beed28, read the big informational stickies early in this thread. it's a memory card with a saveRAM extension. You could do memorycard-like tricks if youre very careful.

Probably not. Assume not. Even if you could, the timing would be radically different, so it would be useless.

CD Switching has been made much easier in r8575 You need to load an m3u (basically it's text) with EmuHawk. Then you select PSX, Disc Controls. Virtual Pad will appear and you can select the disc you want. Sample M3U: Crash Bandicoot - Warped (USA).cue Crash Bash (USA).cue CTR - Crash Team Racing (USA).cue Be aware, while an M3U is just a text file with a different extension, it will NOT work if you do not have the files you put into your M3U, are not present. Also, Audio CDs (Music only) may have problems still.

Can someone test Pespiman?
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

It starts off with "-AN" when entering the level, not "PEPSI MAAAAAAAAAAAAN" More explanation about the music in Pepsiman The intro part of the music does not play they will shout out "-AN!" instead of "PEPSIMAN!" During the song "PEPSIMAN" is fully audible. When the music fades out and restarts it goes quiet for a bit then "-AN!" is shouted out of nowhere. Link to video That was using the latest dev build of BizHawk. r8575

I did a test run of AO and I decided to do an RTA world record simulation and I was able to complete the game and replay the movie on the latest revision.

This actually happened to me on another game and I thought it was how the program should do it but it actually isn't, right? I expect it just hasn't been coded in and will for the stable release in some weeks.

If this becomes stable enough does this mean the other psx emulators will not be accepted or accepted but not recommended?
