Post subject: Im planning on doing a TAS run, Is this allowed?

Example : there is a very hard weapon to unlock and it takes a long time to get, If i where to use a AR code to unlock that weapon and use it in my speedrun "Its still legit, No bonus damage, Faster fire speed ect." As if i unlocked it on my own would that count?

If you can bring the weapon into a new save file, i.e. with new game+ or such, then you could make a verification file which unlocks that weapon and then start a TAS from SRAM

If im starting a newgame run and i had the gun already, Would it count? Please understand that i am not enabling any cheats on the run, Im just unlocking the guns before hand will that count? I didint already im just seein if i can :D

Unlocking the weapon (and any other items) is (to a certain extend), allowed. However, the movie you will be playing will be starting from SRAM (a save file). Because it is possible to alter these files, you have to proof that your save file can, in fact, be obtained simply by playing the game. To do this, you create a movie file (like a regular TAS, but it doesn't have to be fast) that unlocks everything you need. The generated save file can then be matched against the one used in your actual speed run. EDIT: Please note, however, that it's probably better to go to the thread for the game you want to TAS and discuss this there. Especially when beginning, it's probably better to do a regular run, without anything unlocked. And then there's still the chance that people plain aren't interested in a new game+ run of your game of choice.

Alright i understand, To put it simply its a newgame+ run correct? And if unlocking this gun with the AR code is 100% allowed in this case?

Use of external cheats (AR code) is not allowed. You can make a newgame+ run, if you make a verification movie first.

Unlock the weapon through normal conditions and do whatever else is necessary for the new game+ file

You make a TAS up to the point where you get the weapon, to show that it is legit. Then you start your actual TAS from that point on.

Nevermind, Ill just unlock the weapon normaly *sigh* Do i need to do anything before a newgame+ run? Forget the AR code cheating i decided against it.

You need to record your normal playthrough and present to the audience as an input file when submitting your TAS.

In particular, it doesn't need to be a TAS, or even very fast, but it needs to be an input file that, when played back, results in the save data that you use for your TAS.
