Attempting to extract the zip file just returns an empty folder with the errors:

Sorry about that, seems the zip was compressed with LZMA instead of Deflate. Try again, see if it works now.

The editing worked! Thanks a lot Scepheo. http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/20153731349642357 Here's the updated file and I went ahead and cleared Magma Man, too. The save time is now 2:55. There are some moments he's too high in the air to reach, and then I had to finish the fight a little off-center because of his mandatory pattern. Should probably check it to see if you can find an improvement. It's possible starting the fight with rush coil instead of buster could save some time, but other than that we can now start galaxy man. The route is pretty much already laid out here: Link to video The stage took 1:33 in that run, so it should at the very least aim to improve on that. With the weapon switching hack, I was able to use tactics that actually saved 6 whole seconds on that stage, but we wont have that luxury.

Very nice thus far! I do have one question. In the room at 1:06, would it be faster to dispose of the first Rush Coil by going into the menu and back out to use again after instead of waiting for Rush to leave the screen to use him again?

As long as it saves 74 frames, then yes, it probably would. I did that run years ago so I'm not sure why I chose not to refresh it. I'll check that when I get to that point.

Very nice so far! I'm afraid I can't watch the movie file. By the way,I think Galaxyman's stage is improvable a lot. In the first weapon select, chosing rush coil instead of concrete shot is better. And then after you use rush coil once at the 1:06 room to go up to the first step, chose concrete shot to go up to the second step.

I don't see how rush coil can be faster at all for the first room, as I hit the ladder on the first frame possible. But more importantly, I need the concrete shot to clear the spike gap as well as get up into the teleporter box in the second room. Maybe you could elaborate? For the 1:06, you're right that concrete shot is faster there, but the problem is that in order to switch to concrete shot and then switch back to rush coil afterwards wastes whopping 150 frames. I'm not sure how much time it saves, so I'll check it when I get there. But that's the main reason why I chose to TAS Mega Man 10 instead. A bunch of time saving tactics can't be utilized in this TAS because weapon switching takes so long. So many tricks that I'm sure MegaDestructor9's 19:18 in-game time might not be beaten with this TAS. After this TAS is complete, I'll probably do a run through of all the time trials aiming for in-game time as I've already done for Magma Man. It might not get accepted here, but I think it would be fun to watch regardless.

Yea, that's what I feared when going for in-game time wasn't appealing because of the time wasted changing weapons. But I will still enjoy both runs whenever they get finished, so keep up the good work guys :)

Bolded this for emphasis. I tried it last night without Concrete Shot and at most, I was 1-2 pixels away from reaching it. Thank you for your Magma Man fight :) I couldn't improve it so I am taking a shot at Galaxy Man. Got4n is also doing it. Edit: Also, the first enemy was acting like a real stuck up space B**** and wouldn't give more than a small health. On that day:

Thanks a lot especially uploading your Magmaman run in Youtube. In your Galaxy Man's run, You used Buster -> Concrete shot -> Rush boil-> Concreteshot. In my opinion, Buster-> Rush coil -> Concrete shot in order to decrease weapon choice once. If you use Rush Coil in the first room, you can clear the spike gap with rush coil or invincible time and go to teleporter with Rush coil. Of course in the first room, using Concrete Shot is faster. However, after using Rush Coil in the first room, you can decrease a weapon choice in the second room, which you choose Rush coil from Concrete shot in your video. Additionally, in the 1:06 room, you have full of Concrete energy. So you don't have to switch Rush coil again. Also, you can get 10 points of Concrete energy in the last room.

Worked on this all day long and now it's done. I am putting it up here in case GoddessMaria's and agwawaf's idea proved to be slower. http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/20177227961133349 Unfortunately, the boss starts flying way up so bad starting boss RNG :( Tested a lot of things but your former wip was pretty much top notch Diggi, hence why this version looks basically exactly as yours.

@Diggi: What about getting hit by Magma Man so that you can maneuver better and maybe kill it faster? Does the knockback cost too much time?

So I was testing agwawaf suggestions, and I thought something and it seems that we can save 3 frames using ladders, like going into them then pressing at first frame possible the button to release the ladder :D Poor Angerfist :( I'll post my conclusions about agwawaf tests soon ;D

Yea, I tried taking damage but the resultant knockback takes 30 frames until you gain control again. I only needed 13 frames to maneuver around his shots.

What part is this? I know if you have to descend a ladder it's absolutely beneficial to grab it for a frame then immediately jump off, as seen halfway through concrete man's stage. But going up a ladder is a little different, since its possible to be too high up the ladder to still grab it to continue on. If you can't clear the ladder entirely with a jump, then you need to grab it a full body length lower to still climb up.

Is that in total, or both times? According to that, taking a hit would still be faster. I tried improving the magma man fight myself because I felt it could be a little faster, but with dolphin being an ass when I tried playing it back for a comparison ("fatal desync "error in playwiimote: 4!= 7 byte 350"" what the hell does that even mean? way to be useful, error), I couldn't actually tell if I was ahead or behind at a specific point.

It would indeed be faster if those maneuvers were all subsequent to each other, but since they are spaced out over the fight, you would lose your invincibility from the first one before you'd need it for the second one. Meaning you'd have to take yet another 30 frame hit. Furthermore, these maneuvers are performed during the time he's too high to reach with a normal jump, so having invincibility wouldn't improve it. The first maneuver during his first high jump needed 11 frames, the second needed 3 to get to his other side, the third during his second high jump needed 13, and the last needed another 3 to get to his other side again. In total, 30 frames were needed off a 100% uptime. This wont be improved by taking a hit. But you're still welcome to look for an improvement. I think better positioning at the end could help, but going under him is way faster then letting him high jump. As for the dolphin error, that usually has to do with your settings for the controllers. Make sure your gamecube ports and wiimote's 2, 3, and 4 are set to none, wiimotor and speaker data off, and that your wiimote 1 configuration is consistent. But you might still have to restart it.

This is what I came up with (no idea if it'll sync, I am not fond of how dolphin handles movies), which I think pulls ahead until the last 4hp, at which point it loses out due to a bad pattern.

No matter what I changed I couldn't fix it, which is why I gave up on the above to begin with.

I meant when you have to go from left to the right, if there is a ladder you can grab it then release it on first frame and it saves time, take for example 0:27 in your video, there is a ladder you can grab then release on first frame while moving right, it will saves 3-4 frames :)

Ah, yes I see that now. It does look like a good spot for it. A zip saves 3-4 frames as well, depending on your subpixel position, so it might be possible to replace the first zip across the pit with a ladder-grab and just use one concrete shot as a platform. This would save a c.shot for a later spot, since I actually needed two to perform the zip. Although, that zip might have actually saved more than 3 frames since it was kind of a double zip. Have to check this.

It does sync, and yes it looks like you gained all time lost from the first jump, but then lose more during his second and third jumps, ultimately finishing 3 frames slower. The worst was when he did a high jump from the top platform costing you 24 frames. His moves should be based of your position, though, so I'll use the beginning of your fight to see if I can get him to stay near the center and not perform more high jumps. Thanks for your input! EDIT: Good news! It turns out his last high jump that messed your fight up could be manipulated out by simply following the pattern I used. So, I used your beginning input and finished him off with mine. This finishes 4 frames ahead. Thanks, Atma.

I feel like if you got hit on the 5th jump, you could potentially set yourself up better for the 6th jump to kill further downtime, and save more time overall. Just a feel though, probably wouldn't amount to anything.
