I'd much rather see a 100% run for this game. Already seen one that wasn't 100%, so I don't think this particular run will be much fun to watch.. I'd do a 100% run, if I knew where all 100% of the items were, but unfortunately, no, I don't.

But this ones faster!!!!11 But really, that's the main main point of this site I always thought. Going as fast as possible until there isn't a frame left.

That is true. But there are also 100% runs on this site, as Saturn-Chan has so demonstrated with his Secret of Evermore 100% run. And he did that in like, two hours and four minutes, quite fast for that game. More like impossibly fast. I'm just one of the people that likes 100% runs more than others. But it by no means says I won't download the next Super Mario RPG Run. I love that game, and have been playing it since I was maybe...Ten or Eleven years old, I'm twenty two years old right now.

"Saturn-Chan" why did you feel the need to add "chan" after his name ? =/ anyways, you said you would do a 100% run if you knew where everything was.. so play through the game with a guide and you'll learn where everything is, then you can do one

Well, no, -chan is the diminutive form of the honorific -san. It's pronounced chan because most little Japanese children say "-san" as "-chan." Sometimes young women will refer to really old, close friends (from childhood) as "-chan." However, I doubt that you've known Saturn since you were both tots. A more appropriate form to use would be "-kun." But only if he's younger, I don't know how old Saturn is. Or even better, speak in English. Not Otakuese. About the new run... ;_; But I wanted to see Yoshi's Island 100%....

Haven't know about the meaning of "Chan". I'm 21,3 years old now.

I like too 100% runs. By Secret of Evermore was it easy with this Atlas-Glitch. I think in most other RPG's and Adventures it will be much harder and take much longer.

At the most, a 100% Super Mario RPG Run would only go between 3-5 hours. Hehe. People have already proven that the game can be beaten in three or less. I will have to say however, that not going for the Lazy Shell Weapon may not save time in the long run, considering it's the most powerful weapon in the game. I can understand skipping Culex, since he's really tough. You should at least get the Masher from Booster's Tower though, since that Hammer seems to have limitless potential as far as Hammers go. And I do believe it may be more powerful than the "Ultra Hammer" that can be found in the Factory.

I agree. This is one of the reasones together with the knowledge I choose this game to timeattack. Without the Atlas-Glitch you have no chance to skip the leveling up mostly to level 3 "Weapon Skill" (you need to kill at least 200 enemies for that) to charge your weapon for a serious damage.

He doesn't use the Lazy shell that much in the run though, and the item attacks he has are much more powerful.

I haven't seen an "item attack" that can do up to 500 Damage in a single hit. He'll have to rely on Rock Candies, and that will take longer in the long run considering they only do 200-300 Damage at the most per use. If he had the Lazy Shell, he could do more than 600-900 Damage per round. Depending on how well you time the Lazy Shell, I've seen at least 550-600 Damage in one attack. And if you Geno Boost Mario, he can do around 600-750 Damage in one attack. Just putting in my two bits, cause I still think skipping the Lazy Shell may not save much time in the later boss battles.

I didn't think rock candy varied in damage. I think it's a fixed value. Can you even miss when using it?

Rock Candies are 300 damage to each enemy. And it cannot miss. So if you have 3 enemies that's 900 damage, if you have more it's more. The Lazy Shell is indeed rediculously powerful. But I don't remember him using it all that much in his last run.

Isn't the lazy shell a detour to get as well?

Then again, so is the Masher.

Well, he should at least go for the Masher, anyway. Cause it's not really a big time taker.

update: just finished Birdo, now at a record time 11 mintues faster than the published run skipped a few things, including the Lazy Shells and the needless cut scene with Goomba at Monstro Town (Hurly Gloves instead of Spiked Link will be Bowser's weapon until the end of the game) had to wait until after the Sunken Ship to buy the Exp.Booster because of Frog Coin shortage, and in the long run I only end up being 1 level behind my previous run (luckily there was a nice bunch of these at the Sunken Ship) question: should I have the 'sync sound samples with cpu' option set? I've just rerecorded with it enabled, and have watched the entire movie through (on turbo) and it hasn't desynched or affected the gameplay at all. The reason I ask is because the sound seems to be out of synchronization with the game at some points, and this fixes it I presume.

11 minutes faster, cool. (For some reason I remember the Hurly Gloves being a really terrible weapon, though.) There's some bug in the emulator's sound timing that affects this game more than most games. There are no workarounds that I know of, besides maybe using ZSnes (I haven't tried it but maybe it doesn't have the same bug). If you're not switching to that: "Sync sound samples with cpu" doesn't seem to do anything with this game, but I recommend turning it on anyway to be on the safe side (because it's a default option and turning it off causes desync problems in some games). I also recommend leaving fake mute workaround and left+right OFF because they won't have any effect on this game. Remember that you can change recording options after-the-fact if you want to see whether they really do anything, and if it doesn't desync and you want to keep it changed you can save-state (when read-only is off, of course) to save the movie with the changed option.

Eleven Minutes eh? I also remember the Hurly Gloves being a bad weapon. But I suppose it's the best weapon Bowser can get without going for Spiked Link or Drill Claw.

There's one question I've always had about the run. Why pass up the treasures you recieve for beating the 'Door puzzle' in Bowser's Castle? IE, all the potential good weapons and stuff. The previous run just ran by all the treasure chests without grabbing them. I know that some of the door puzzles take longer than others, and I can't remember which is the Drill Claw. But, if that puzzle happens to be done, then couldn't you just pick it up, so Bowser has a higher ATK for the final battles? Or are all the powerful weapons which really matter behind doors with puzzles that are skipped because they take too long?

Unfortunately both the Star Gun and the Drill Claw are behind both the Battle Doors, which I skip because yes they take too long. You can bet I would have gotten them had I been given the opportunity.

There are three rooms per Battle Room, with 5-10 Battles per room. But it really wouldn't take all that long to beat all of the rooms, though there are small Mini-Bosses at the end of the third rooms. I figure it would take maybe five minutes for all three rooms total per Battle Chamber, considering spezzafer normally uses Rock Candy to attack in every battle once he picks them up. But, the downside to doing that, would mean he'd lose his eleven minute lead over the previous movie. So I have to agree, and say that the Two Battle Chambers would take too long just to get a couple of Ultimate Weapons.
