Hi, I'm trying to play around with TASes in MAME-RR. I'd be using FinalBurn Alpha but the game I want to play isn't supported in it, so I'm using this for the moment. The problem I'm having is after I decided to play back my movie to see what it looked like, I can't figure out how to pause in the middle of the movie and start recording again during it. Does anyone have any idea about this? Nothing I've tried has worked and I can't find a button to switch out of read-only mode.

There's a checkbox in the Replay Movie dialog that says "Read-Only" or something similar, although I think it doesn't do anything. So... Probably "Read+Write" mode was never added. Don't use this emulator.

Are you sure? You literally can't half-finish a TAS and finish it in a later session in MAME-RR? That seems like a pretty big oversight to me if true...

Well crap. I'd like to use FinalBurn Alpha rerecord but Salamander doesn't even show up in the game list. Oh well, it's not like I was doing anything terribly serious.

I'd say you can't even start a TAS in MAME-RR. But it's not an oversight. The project was barely started (and quickly abandoned) and I was focused on making it usable for the making of combo videos (with macros), so Read-Write mode was just lower in the priority list and it never got made.

They added it in a newer version of the official program: http://www.barryharris.me.uk/article_view.php?id=198 So if anyone ever updates the rerecording version, it will have it. :P
