I play counterstrike source. My aim is good. I used to play with Razer Deathadder 2013 edition. After 1,5 years, it began to doubleclick. There is no other way to explain it. Left-click began doubleclicking. So I bought a new mouse; Razer Chroma. That's when my problems started to occur. I get it that you have to get used to your new mouse but something has changed. My reg is worse than ever. Like an enemy can stand right infront of you, you are shooting towards your enemies head and it does not register... It registers after 3-4-5 shots!! My aim was that good that I used to end opponents after 1-2 shots. So I am selling my brand new Razer Chroma. Recently bought Logitech G303. Supposedly, it has the market's best optical sensors. Reg is slightly better but still pretty far from where it used to be. My question is, is there any Windows related option I can change in order to increase my rates/reg? Is there anything else I can do? I have googled and such haven't had much luck so far. In CSS, if your reg is delayed brief of a second, your gameplay totally changes. At this point, I am becoming quite desperate. Thinking of reinstalling Windows 7 and see if that works.

Razer mice have been a huge letdown in quality for me. I used to have the first edition Diamondback which served me well for about 4 years until the material started to disintegrate too much for my taste (but 4 years is a very good lifetime for a 40 euros mouse). I thought I'd give Razer another chance and bought the Imperator (2nd rev). Felt really good to handle, laser was good. But the switches they used are total shit and double clicking occured after not even a year. Went to Steelseries (Sensei Raw) and am happy with it so far. You need to be more specific with what you mean with "register" or "rates". Hit detection in CS:S is impossible to be influenced by what mouse you're using, because it is entirely done on serverside. If by "rates" you mean polling rates, you used to have to do some nasty hacks to get Windows to change it. I think drivers now support setting it directly. Note that very high polling rates like 1000Hz may result in a considerable increase in CPU load (OTOH the improved responsiveness you get from that (instead of the default 125Hz (usually)) might be worth it). Generally your display and the graphics pipeline will introduce the most amount of visual lag, not your mouse ("input lag", which then translates to delayed visuals).

Surprisingly, changing to 125 helped much more! I say surprisingly, because obvioiusly you have that option aswell for Razer. Yeah when I had Chroma and tested 125, the effects were the same but with Logitech's 125 polling rate, it gave much more effect. Thanks a lot RGamma. I think it's a bit ridiculous we have to mess around so much in order to find the optimal rates. A mouse should have the best options preinstalled or such. It's one thing to find the best optimal movement or acceleration, but reg is entirely another issue.

To the average gamer (even if a big consumer of video games) mouse accuracy and polling rate makes zero difference. I can tell from experience. That may be why they put default settings that are pretty low-end even for supposedly high-end gaming mice. (Also, if a higher poll rate has a bigger impact on CPU load, they may purposefully opt for a lower default rate.)

Probably a bit late in the party, but I guess you are looking to tweak these factors: - the polling rate of your mouse, e.g. the frequency of reading actual X/Y position in a second. The higher the value, it's more "fluid", but it can also increase jittering (value of lost packets, this is only for extreme cases or slow computer or anything interfering with the mouse) - disabling mouse related stuffs, e.g. Windows uses mouse acceleration by default, meaning that using the very same config but with another OS yields in different mouse travel distance to get from A to B position in a specific time. It's works like "if you are going to make a very wide strafe, I will increase the speed collected from your mouse, shorting down the required physical distance to move it". This way you lose 1:1 ratio and very fast movements will inflate too fast, resulting in clumsy, crazy mouse actions in counter-strike or whatever FPS games. - counter-strike settings. While I never tried CS:S mouse tricks, so you should google that one. Most mouse commands are for old devices or for debugging joystick/controller apart from manipulating keyboard turns. - everything else in real life (the surface you are using, your mouse internal health, etc).

Thanks to german wonder RGamma, I have completely solved the problem. The game didn't write your commands to the config file. Feels extremely good being back again. Disabling Windows things: - control panel > mouse > mouse speed - leave the sensitivity at default (6/11, very important) - disable mouse acceleration / enhance precision (don't know the correct string) Disabling mouse things in source: - using launch parameters: (next line) -noforcemspd -noforcemparms -noforcemaccel - m_filter 0 (disable smoothing for next 2 frames after last input) - don't modify m_pitch nor m_yaw Other good to know things for your logitech mouse - use 1000hz poll rate (probably default but who knows) - try to accomodate to a specific DPI and change your sensitivity in-game whenever you can (or use mouse profiles)
