Post subject: Is "Final Fantasy IX online" Final Fantasy IX?

I saw in a computer game shop "Final Fantasy IX" for the PC. It immediately got my attention as something I could potentially buy. However, at closer examination I noticed that it had the word "online" below the title. This immediately raised my suspicions. Curiously, the description texts in the back of the packet didn't help at all. They were really vague and I couldn't figure out if this was really the original FF IX with some extras, or if it was just a FF IX spinoff, some kind of online multiplayer version of the game without the original game. The box included two expansion packs, but even their description didn't make it clear whether they were for the original FF IX or for this "FF IX online" version (which might be something different). Does anyone know? Does it contain the original FF IX game or not?

First let it be said that I've never played a Final Fantasy game, and don't know what's going on in the community. That aside, I think you were looking at the FFXI (11) box and reading the roman numerals backwards. FFXI (11) is an MMORPG that's been out for a few years, and no doubt has had the two expansions of which you spoke. FFIX (9) is an old PS2/PC game.

Actually, Final Fantasy IX (9) is for Playstation (regular/classic/the first one). But yeah, you are right, it should be FF XI (11) you found Warp.

A lot of stores are stupid and can't properly put product information on their pages. You could very well have been the victim of a typo. There is no Final Fantasy IX on-line, what you saw was Final Fantasy XI.

actually, i remember having 9 and the strategy guide as well, and anytime it got to something super secret or valuable to doing anything in the game, it told me to go and check online for it... yes, what a crap strategy guide that was. it wasnt like an online with other players thing, but i just remember them having it online instead of in the strategy guide. that may or may not explain the ONLINE thing you saw.
