You can't use cheat codes for a movie submission. Elsewise neat.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xA6EI476AzA Additional info: Robotnik's Revenge is a hack that's just a boss rush mode. So you're using game genie codes on a hack that make it easier. And still don't beat all existing records. This is kind of a mess.

What about the graphical glitches I saw? Emulator issue? Hack issue? And, not really OK with the whole Skipping of bosses. The hack itself is neat though.

This was fairly interesting. I think I'm ok with the use of codes here, since they give you Tails under the same conditions you would have him under a normal game of Sonic 2. My main concern is the Oil Ocean boss. In all the recent runs of Sonic 2, that boss is killed before he shoots anything, but this fight loses a lot of time when the lasers are getting shot. Is there some way to manipulate different behavior here?
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. From the submission comments:
Shoutouts and thanks to mklip2001 for arguably being the nicest and most supportive person on the forums.

I don't know. It happen when i fight Spring Yang and Hill Top Boss and skip Mystic Cave Boss. Is too fast and just can do 5 hit before he hide in the oil. About game genie codes: Of course I had to use this, it was the idea of the race. There are other TASes that rely on hacks, so it's not an excuse for not being accepted, is not it?

No. They're not. Cheat codes have cheat on the name, isn't it? Just think about it for a sec man...

I wasn't aware the Genesis Sonic games had any bosses of long duration. Honestly, I would prefer all of the bosses be fought and add a "Speed/entertainment tradeoff" objective. Seeing as entertainment is a fair bit more important when pitching a hack movie. Personally, I would be okay with the code to allow two players if it was done in a way other than a Game Genie - if it was a simple in-game password of some kind then I'd be okay with it. All and all, though, as Tangent pointed out, adding Tails isn't really any faster.
Somewhat damaged.

There's a wide difference between playing a game hack/modification and using a cheat code. Runs that use cheat codes are firmly established as not being allowed, and never will be. Especially not an invincibility cheat.

have to say using the cheat codes made it too easy and if im not mistaken unless an extreme point to them that means flat out reject. mothrays got my answer as I was posting 1 is tails in the game to begin with or is it 1 player with tails hacked in with the cheat code 2 how come since you already got past the spring yard boss why not keep going? 3 maybe a better way of beating the Oil Ocean boss since all published runs already get him defeated b4 he dives have to say no for now, maybe a change to the game for a meh

Nope, can't use that code on a real Game Genie as it can only modify the values of ROM addresses, unless the Genesis Game Genie is different from the NES and SNES ones. I wouldn't want to have to find out what changes the value of this particular address. Someone stand me corrected.

true its not a game genie code however it is a pro action replay code which will in fact modify programing code, that's where the issue is

So, how about we discuss the hack itself? If it really is just a boss rush, then why should we even accept it?

I liked it, but cheat codes... Not something you see happen on TAS.

If I'm not mistaken, skipping certain bosses severely affects how/if the other ones load. This is kind of another reason why I think the TAS should just avoid skipping bosses altogether. And I actually think Henke brings up a good point. Seeing as this is just an amalgamation of bosses we've already seen fought (faster) in the other published TASes, what makes this honestly stand out?

Why even be two players? Did tails do anything besides kill himself? No Vote.

Why so much controversy over the game genie? All they do is give the same conditions as a game of Sonic 2 standard, not more.

Significant serious if I did Sonic invincible. If this hack exists a way of playing with both characters, no one would criticize by the game genie. But if not possible, never would exist a TAS like this.

It was a fun watch (voted yes) and a "boss rush" hack of Sonic 1 & 2's battles is an interesting idea. However, TASVideos site policy is firm on forbidding publications that use game genie, pro action replay, or any other use of "cheat" codes. Felipe, would you be interested in doing a 1-player run of this game in the future and eventually re-submitting? That way, you would not only have a run that's within the site rules, you would also have a very good chance of having it published.

I've been thinking that option. And I began to see how it could do so. I decided yes. But I'll work on it alone. Others just I want to help me in finding the best moves. I will start a new thread to the whole discussion and this submit will be canceled.
