This is looking promising. Thanks to moozooh for bringing it up on IRC. Link to video Link to video Site: http://xenia.jp/
http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.

Haha, just wanted to create this thread myself. Xenia is a relatively recent emulator (the initial commit to GitHub was made in January '13), and it's been enjoying some bursts of meaningful activity lately, bringing many games to playable state. Here are some more links: https://github.com/benvanik/xenia https://github.com/xenia-project/game-compatibility/labels/state-playable I haven't made any contact with any of the devs to see if they welcome RR additions, but so far I don't see why they wouldn't.

That's awesome! The 360 has a large library of TAS-worthy games. I hope we see even more development on Xenia soon, and the addition of rerecording tools like moozooh said. I see Castle Crashers on that playable game list. That could be a good first platform publication at some point.

Wow this came out of nowhere.. What do we know about this? Who is the owner? Any contributors from PCSX or Dolphin on this? This could be huuuuuge for tasvideos if they would implement tas tools.

I just remembered Castlevania: Harmony of Despair is an XBLA game and now I want this more than anything else in my life. vvv EDIT: Yeah, I wouldn't expect TAS tools to even be started until maybe a year or so after Xenia gets to a really functional state, let alone implemented. It'll be a long wait, but it'll be worth it.

Owner is actively working on it. Here's public tracker: https://waffle.io/benvanik/xenia Lioncash (his name is literally on every emulator github network) is a contributor who works frequently on dolphin who just recently did a push to Xenia. Probably no reasoning right now for TASing tools but we can always stay hopeful!

Are there any rr emulators for XBOX at this point?

Probably not, seeing the issues that this emulator has right now, if there were any, I would imagine that they would be in the same state.

Not that I'm aware of. If there were, we would have heard about them by now, and there would be at least one low-quality Halo TAS on Youtube. I haven't even heard of any working emulators for the original Xbox at all and a quick Google search turns up nothing within the last 5 years, so a working 360 emulator is surprising to me.

That's my point as well. Kind of strange that two generations of Xbox get the emulators of same qualities at this point. Maybe it has to do with game library. (The difference in qualities between emulators for N64 and Dolphin is also strange though.)

To underline this point, Xenia is making better progress than all of Playstation 1/2/3 (or any other newer console) emulators have, and is already close to the state Mupen, Dolphin, and DeSmuME were in when we started accepting the first submissions for those. If Xenia devs keep up the pace (and better yet, if anyone from TASVideos joins in) we'll see dozens, potentially hundreds of decent TASable titles by the end of the year. I mean, considering the massive size and quality of XBLA/XBLIG libraries... this is quickly shaping up to be the event to look forward to in 2015. (Well, unless there are some mad desync issues, of course.)

Where I saw Xenia making a speedy improvement after initially thinking it was never gonna happen. https://www.reddit.com/r/emulation/comments/3ayifk/how_is_xenia_so_fast/cshetq9

I legitmately wasn't expecting an Xbox 360 emulator to show up. I bet my computer could barely run it at a functional speed! Aside from that, it'd be really, REALLY cool seeing some Xbox 360 games get TASed.

Link to video It's a pretty good start.. GTA V intro then crash.. still amazing.. Also looking through github's pulse, saw this: https://github.com/benvanik/xenia/issues/40 it'll be a step towards TASing in the future.

Can you guys stop embedding a thousand videos all in one page? For some people it’s hard to load the page.

Whoa this is quite promising, Never really expected 360 emulation to get this far. These emulator coders are pretty good at finding how to make things work. Definitely going to keep a watch on this thread for updates.

Hey, that means we're closer to getting those Half-life/left4dead TASes people requested back over here.

Well, we can already make Half-Life TASes and more or less single-player Source game TASes.
