Here is a rom name for Pokémon Gold (Japan version 1.1) Pocket Monsters Kin (J) (V1.1) [C][!] I know the J is Japanese Version, but what is the [C] and [!] Are they good??
If a map had all the information, it would look like this: (shows black construction paper) "Now that's a map!' XD

It raises the question why that symbol is even needed.

[!] means verified good dump in the GoodTools suite. You'll know for sure whether you have a good ROM, as opposed to having to guess with any unlabeled ROM. In an ideal world, it would not be necessary, but we don't live in an ideal world, so unverified stuff goes all over the net. So having some verification indication that your ROM is a good one is helpful.

This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.

Isn't that, just another way of saying "I took the time to verify it". It really bothers how often I download a rom from an established site and it turns out to be a bad dump. It infuriated me to the point where I actually made my own and tried to submit them, but no reply. After you've made your own dump, is there any way to verify it beyond playing it for a couple of mins on a emulator or console?

The way you suggest isn't the way to verify it anyway. You verify it against other equipment / ROMs / targets to ensure you have a bit-for-bit copy of the original.
