To me (and LTRP may confirm), the fastest pattern (considering subpixel climbing) as far as i remember is: … … …
I made measurements some time ago, but I was writing all the data on a sheet of paper. I took the certainly best pattern, which gave (if I remember it correctly) average climbing speed of about 1.4 pixels/frame, and I applied it in my Knuckles TAS — in MHZ2. However, soon after that feeuzz22 had redid my part, and replaced climbing with his own. MHZ2 ending became completely his own job, and I did not care of it anymore. And, as you can easilly guess, I lost that sheet of paper since that time. Apologies about that. And also about the fact that I am lazy to redo it — the weekend is too short even just to relax, no mood to do such a routine work. So it’s better if one of you makes it. The important fact about jump-climbing is keeping [^] pressed, which was missed (but later noticed) by TheYogWog during his work on his ring attack TAS.

Like a boss. Seriously, man, you are so precise that it’s even not funny. Thanks for using my ideas, by the way :)

If you don't mind, when Tee-N-Tee complete with its improvements, I'll redo the battles for look better (maybe just some). By the way, Aglar has not even been involved here I don't see the need to give him some credit in addition to Tee-N-Tee has beaten his time.

Sure, same about me (unless I beat Tee-N-Tee in some stage, which does not even look possible)

Since you brought up credit, I will give my opinion about it: at this rate, Tee-N-Tee will be the record holder for all acts. Don't you think it would be unfair that someone else was also listed as an author of the full final run only because they helped a tiny bit here and there or made minor tweaks to the boss fights? That kind of contributions are commonly mentioned in the acknowledgment section of the submission text. Your last few posts gave me the impression that the only thing you care about is getting author status for this run no matter what. Your trying to exclude Aglar only because he has not posted in this topic recently is also a bad sign... Anyway, eggcellent work, Tee-N-Tee! I wonder if you will submit this run as a Christmas present for the community. ;)

Relax :) maybe he works as a project manager in real life. The good fact is that this project could easilly die forever if Hat didn't help it's resurrection. And the other important fact is that Tee-N-Tee is way too skilled in terms of optimization — his level at this game is unreachable for most others, so, I can understand if Hat doesn't want this to turn into Tee-N-Tee's solo project after dedicating it incredible amount of time and patience.

I guess most of the times (in-game) that were developed (as AR1, CP1, CN1 and 2, etc) will enter my project (any%) and add Tee-N-Tee as co-author, because I tried to improve and the truth that makes me a little backwards and my head will explode. Same zones as CN1 and 2, can be improved because I can grab rings and save time (indeed, I have done that zone, I want to finish Hill Top Zone and I think will published to try to optimize what you can). I will work in the other zones and try to save time and get good results.

There have been many contributors over the last 4 years, I've always considered this as a team project. I would be in favour of submitting the final result in the name of everyone who contributed in this thread. I have only done the bare minimum with the boss battles and no movements during the score tallies, if Hat wants to do this part, I'm totally fine with it. Mystic Cave 1 in 0:27::41 Mystic Cave 2 in 0:33::15 There's an oddity with the boss battle, I managed to save a couple of frames on the last hit, only to find out that I lost some frames o.O It turns out that you have to deliver the last hit when Robotnik is on a specific y-value, on this value his wobbling seems to take the shortest time, so he retreats quicker. Interestingly, this was known and used in the Sonic 2 TAS, but not mentioned in the submission text.

At ~0:08.30 (MCZ1) can’t you glide-glitch through the obstacle? If you could, it would save a few frames. (upd) nevermind, I’ve just realized I was wrong — the moving objects will “eat” the improvement anyway

That's a much more reasonable approach, and one I agree with. You just proved yourself very selfless, too, which is great. I didn't like the suggestion of leaving Aglar out of the submission and having people like Hat be part of it at the same time, and that's the reason I wrote my post above.

Watching Metropolis 3 frame by frame made me think that you were going to overflow the vertical speed :) Extremely cool, man!

It was invented by my WST and zip in the area boss, have happened me by a fluke. Thanks Tee-N-Tee by respect the idea. ED: After that, I think Tee-N-Tee just missing optimize Wing Fortress (possibly Death Egg) and everything would be ready. I will use Sky Chase Zone made by skychase.

This will be a little epic, because you might publish the same time 2 movies (any% and ringless)

Hat, when combining your resulting gmv from pieces, don't forget to set the proper number of rerecords. Hopefully you know how to do it, if not, tomorrow I will explain (using phone this moment).

I have supposed that Tee-N-Tee couldn't do much in Death Egg. No matter, you've done enough.

I know how to set the rerecord-count. I did that with this gmv. S2K Ringless Full

Ouuuu sorry sorry sorry Tee-N-Tee I had not realized the real time in Death Egg was 0:41::04 and is your time the most optimal time. I ask for an apology.

I tested the "bounce-gliding" technique (no idea if there's already been coined a term for this but I guess it's self-explanatory) on the Metropolis Boss that Kiske showed in the any% TAS. Here's what I've come up with: Metropolis 3 in 0:47::17 Due to the boss' 7 orbs, there's a myriad of possibilities, I wouldn't be surprised in the least if it's still improvable.
