Egg Mania: Eggstreme Madness, also known as Eggo Mania in PAL territories, is a puzzle video game released in 2002 by HotGen. At the start of a level, crates begin falling from the sky. Each one has a picture of the block it contains on it. Stack these blocks and build a tower up to the hot-air-balloon to finish the level. I probably would have forgotten about this game if I didn't discover it by chance on the internet, very good childhood memories here. For a TAS of this game I have chosen the Story mode 'Egg Mania', within this there are two modes, Over Easy and Hard Boiled. Over Easy does not have any difficulty selection as it is 'Over Easy' I guess. I choose Hard Boiled as it has difficulty options, and I choose the hard mode out of all the options. After I have been dropped my the Hot Air Balloon, I hold down as allows my character to fastfall alot quicker than neutral input. There are some items I use to help me reach the air balloon faster: Speed Shoes: These help quicken my movement, it also helps me to fast fall alot quicker than normal. Spatula(? Not sure what it is): This helps create metal blocks to aid the tower's structure. Level 1 TAS: Link to video There are other games modes that I think may be suitable for a TAS, I will mention these later.

Link to video If you watch the video, you will notice that I leave a row with 1 empty space, this is because I was unable to find a way to fill it and keep a optimal time, also, you'll notice that the tower collapses by 1 row this is unavoidable because of the CPU throwing a hammer at my tower.

Sweet! Liked the TAS, but I think you need to exploit the rows a lot more. Doing rows in a row increase dramatically the numbers of star blocks. Doing one only make it negligeable, but doing three rows in a row...

Picking this up again. Link to video I still feel I can end the level earlier, got better chains(!) than the last Level 1 TAS.

At about 30 sec, you can drop one L thingy so you can take one "one block" to fill the gap on the bottom and continue the chain. :)

If I did that, I wouldn't be able to make a chain as big as the one I just did.

Ohhh, yeah. Maybe. Did you figure where the bonus blocks goes? I'm curious about that.

One idea: I see you collected some shoes. Did you try to make a mad tower and try to jump from the top of the tower before it collapses to much? Since it's a TAS, you should know the "future" blocks, right? Maybe something like build a mad tower, collecting a shoe in the progress, then jump out of it? Yeah I see where you went with the combos, but I still wonder if you tried a little bit to keep the combos going? The first one? or the second one? Maybe it worth it to drop one block so you can keep the combo? Liked it otherwise. :)

About the shoes, that idea would probably work if I TASed on the easy difficulty, as the height of the Hot Air Balloon rises depending on the difficulty setting. But I will try the idea of keeping the combo and I'll see if that allows me to complete the level faster.

Yeah, the balloon is closer on easy, but I noticed you collecting some shoes on the way. The first shoes might not even help, but the last ones might works? Who knows? :) EDIT: One another idea is to make a bunch of holes intentionally.

Okay, I tried extending the combo from the other movie file but it didn't turn out to be faster. I also tried your speed shoes idea but sadly the boost doesn't last for that long and the blocks break really quickly. I TASed from scratch and managed to do it about 1 sec faster Link to video

Felt you're more in control, since you're more selective with the blocks. But yeah I loved that ending... especially since you had to hurry up because a bomb were about to blow up. :) You're really improved. I'd suggest you continue trying again. I still think you might be able to improve. :)

I have tried quite a few things and I have not been able to beat that time yet. I will try for a while longer to see if anything comes out of it, if not then I will move onto the next level.
