Beat A, save game, reset/change disc (its a feature the movie does support), load game and beat B
This way it make only 1 movie instead 2, and no memcard are required (to validate B run)
Oh i see!
It would be a long run... maybe 2 and half hours. It could be interesting.
If you do Leon A and then Claire B, do you think a Claire A and Leon B would have enough differences to make a second branch a good option?
Theres a scenario where you have to make the antivirus (save sheryl), while the other you dont (the pendant is on ada).
I would say they are fairly enought different to warrant 2 runs, also it would be quite weird to have only 1 of the 2 scenario available.
Im hoping for less than 2 hours, but yeah its big ass movies.
I see.
Less than two hours would be amazing! I really look forward for this run. Also, i know you're worried about the many branches, but i say: forget about it and focus only on the run. Imo (i'm a very lazy guy) it's much more motivating to finish an one hour run than a two hours run. You can TAS just Leon A or Claire A first, so the audience don't have to wait too much and you have only "half" of the job, and then if you feel the motivation, you go for the Leon B or Claire B, but without the pressure of beeing in the middle of the TAS.
Let the judges worry about the branches, and i don't think this will be much of a problem.
Thats where you probly didnt catch that we was 2 doing this, also i already did re1&re3 so im pretty used to it now :p
The real reason im worried about branches isnt the judging of those 2 movies, like I sayd its more for the next ones with hunk and tofu im worried about, one thing important is the 2 methods arent compatible each others, while i can recycle A into a full movie A+B, I cant start seperatly B and then mix it with A, it wont work.
Once we both went trought A, it also mean we can do B of the other, and somewhat keep the pace with same character.
Only a fool would leave it to a random decision, the site have standarts, you have to respect them, or should I say you need to take care of details like that, while for the watcher it make little difference it can change a whole lot for tasing, not whiling the next revision of the run to "fix" something as trivial as how the movie should be made/end, just want to make things right.
The problem is more the lack of time and others movies projects gathering dust on my hdd, but im pretty confident it will be this year (with re1 chris run, and eventually jill obsoletion)

Threads of Fate, although to be fair there's not a lot a TAS would do (AFAIK) besides optimize movement to complete the game as quickly as possible. Minor luck manipulation possible in enemy drops?
for resident evil 2,can't you use the 64 version?it won't need loading different discs and you can use codes for hunk and tofu
TAS i'm interested:
Megaman series, specially the RPGs! Where is the mmbn1 all chips TAS we deserve? Where is the Command Mission TAS?
i'm slowly moving away from TASing fighting games for speed, maybe it's time to start finding some entertainment value in TASing.
There's a game called "Sol Divide", it's an arcade game that was released for Playstation and Saturn, iirc. In the arcade game you choose between three characters and it's a kind of shooter, with your characters flying and casting spells, firering or doing Combos. The challenge in this game is actually after finishing the Arcade Mode with just one coind/credit, it will enable a Extreme super Hyper hard mode where basically you start the game again but your enemies are too strong. I don't think it's possible to beat this game twice in a row with just one coin, but in other hand it would be too boring to watch the game beeing beaten twice. Unless there was a way to enable the super hard mode with a cheat or trick.
I think it would be a cool TAS.
Edit: Btw, i'm using a PSX emulator for the first time and i'd like to know if there's any version of any psx emulator that can play the rom in .zip, .rar or .7zip... etc, without the need to unzip the files.
If I am not mistaking (since I own this game...), there can only be 4 teams at the same time, and I don't think you can do a 1 vs 3. However, the campaign should be great, but planing would be a pain (and even more for the Red Alert original campaign).
I actually did this for april fools but didn't submit it (cause I didn't completely finish it) :p .. I might do it next year for april fools .. And no from what I tried, no ground breaking glitches.. just hilarious ones :p
Would anyone be interested in doing a Dynasty Warriors TAS? A regular speedrun of it would be boring to watch, but I'm sure a TAS of it could be very entertaining.
This :P Haha.. It's a short game so maybe it would only be an April Fool's entry, but if there were sufficient glitches.

Wouldn't those be the types of glitches you'd use in an April Fool's run? At least it doesn't color a dinosaur.
Also, (to avoid double posting) I've been playing through the PS1 reboot of Centipede. I have yet to beat the whole thing, but there's a few neat tricks I've noticed, and I feel like with proper angles and good timing (not to mention good luck manipulation), a runner could completely destroy this game, regardless of whether or not they meet the extra objectives. It's also quite colorful, with each enemy having its own unique sound while it's near the Shooter.
According to the search function, Dragonball Z Legends is somewhere on this list, but I don't feel like skimming through fourteen pages to find it.
A straight speedrun of the game wouldn't be entertaining. Manipulating the AI to get max combos would just be the same drill over and over. However, there's also something in the game called the Z Score. This is based on how true to the story you play the game. For example, if you want Super Saiyan Goku to fight Frieza, you have to let Frieza kill Krillan. This puts an interesting twist on it, because now you have to manipulate the AI to do things that you normally wouldn't want them to do, preferably as quickly as possible.
Another example is the Cell games. Cell will only come out to fight if Goku or Gohan are in. However, the get a 100% Z Score, Gohan has to kill five (?) Cell Juniors, who only come out if there's characters other than Goku and Gohan. So you have to bring in other characters so Gohan can kill the Cell Juniors (I think he only has to land the last Meteo attack, so if there's a quicker Meteo attack with one of the other characters it might save time and break up the monotony) then let Cell kill Goku and finally have Gohan go solo against Cell.

I have done a short attempt at the game (the topic is here).
And I don't think a 100% Z-Score run would be that interesting. For one, other than figuring out who should beat up who, it's still going to be the same sort slugfest each time. Secondly, it'll take much longer because there will be more enemies, and thus more lengthy Meteo Attack animations. Third, the run would start off with having to get Piccolo beat up by Nappa three times, which is terribly uninteresting, dull, looks bad, and takes about five minutes or so. And this happens more times later on if you want a perfect Z-Score.
On the other hand, I found this video/playthrough, where everyone apparently gets defeated with just one Meteo rather than the usual three or four. However, I haven't been able to figure out how this works. If I were to find out, I would be much more interested at giving the game a try again.

<dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects.
<Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits
<adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.

Actually, Nappa's Meteo takes four hits, I think.
What I'm interested in is if the AI can be manipulated to be more... proactive? What really makes it boring to watch is the player doing NOTHING while waiting for the computer to beat them up. The computer does react to things--sometimes--so I was wondering if by "provoking" them in different ways it could lead to faster and more interesting battles.
There's been playarounds of Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, and granted those are more interesting in terms of combos, but the AI manipulation consists entirely of them always getting hit. It'd be different to see a run where the AI is manipulated to WIN instead.
A TAS of Devil Dice and the sequel Xi Jumbo could be interesting. Not sure if full game modes or just showing off crazy combos.

The main difference between Devil Dice and Xi Jumbo is that you can now pick up and put down dice and stack dice two high. They have pre-set puzzles, randomized challenge modes and multiplayer battles.

I own Devil Dice and the pre-set puzzles have all exactly one solution and I don't think the game mechanics can be broken in a way to make those fun to watch. The other modes might still bring something though.

I would LOVE to see at least a regular TAS, if not a playaround of Psychic Force. It's a somewhat unique fighting game on the PSX since you have full 3D movement inside the cube and as the name implies, the characters have psychic superpowers, like the MC can create and control fire, and the antagonist is able to control water and/or ice.
PSX: Castlevania Chronicles
(Original Mode: Round 1/Round 6;
Arrange Mode - Japanese verison)
Not PSX: Mega Man Zero 1-4 (GBA) (Hard Mode)
Mega Man ZX (NDS) (Hard Mode)
Castlevania The Adventure Rebirth (Wii) (Hard Mode)
Castlevania The Lecarde Chronicles (PC/Windows fan-made game) (Hard Mode)
If anyone is interested in some firefighting action, please check out Rosco McQueen, a fantastic silly little game for the PS1. It's freaking hard in the later levels though. Never managed to beat it as a kid myself, so seeing a TAS of it would be great.
