Amazon may have non-credit card systems available for you to use. I seem to recall they support paying by cell phone (i.e. the charge is added to your cell phone bill) in some parts of Europe, for example.

There is always the option of just getting a credit card.

Getting a debit card must be simpler no? All of my contacts in the Netherlands have one, and they got it from their bank.

The thing is that I barely ever have any use for a credit card. I'd require one maybe once per year or so and there's usually an alternative. If I want something from another country, I generally use eBay for that, as they accept PayPal. So, in my opinion, it wouldn't be worth it. It's like buying a car if you only need to go someplace once every few months. I'll keep it in mind, but I'll first see if I can get any alternative means. I asked the project creator if they could input a PayPal option a day and a half ago, but I haven't had a response yet. I'll wait that out for a week and then I'll take another action.

You could get a debit card, as Warepire suggested. Those shouldn't cost anything, and you can get one from your bank.

My bank only offers credit cards. This (for me) comes at a price of 11,25 euros per year. I can also go for the debit cards (or prepaid credit cards as they are known here, if I am not mistaken), which costs me 10,- euros per year. I think I'll research it more and make my decision then. Thank you and Warepire for suggesting.

A debit card is a card you can use to pay directly from your bank account. They're more dangerous than credit cards since a criminal could potentially drain your entire bank account if they got their hands on your card data. However, they also don't require credit checks, charge interest, or other things like credit cards do. A prepaid "credit card" is really more like a debit card with an independent account, as I understand it. You put some money "on the card", and that's all the money that the card can access. They're pretty safe since the scope of potential damage is so limited; the worst case is that you lose the money on the card, and no more.

Some banks (like mine) offer one time virtual credit cards. You get one for each transaction. And they of course have limits on how much each virtual card can be charged.

Oh, if that is the case, I already got such a card (more or less). It's the standard here, we just call it a pin card. The card only works by directly inserting into a machine and putting in your pincode though, so it cannot be used for international shopping.

Are prepaid credit cards the same as regular credit cards you think? Would it be possible to use them for amazon? I found a credit card option online for 10,- euros. I have a link (in English): http://g.skrill.com/mastercard/en/?rid=16730621 It's from Mastercard, so it seems to work just as well. Now, I've been looking online for answers. It seems Amazon does indeed accept prepaid credit cards, but they do say this:
Amazon wrote:
Amazon.com doesn't support entering the three-digit CVV code normally found on the back of some cards. If the code is required by the issuing bank, payments may not process successfully.
It makes me a bit afraid to be honest. I don't know (and can't find online) if my bank requires a CVV code input or not. If I do, I can't pay, or at least that's what I make up out of the Amazon quote. I don't know if my fear is grounded or not. Can you help me out a little more? PS: In actual on-topic news: Mighty no 9 has reached over 1.8 Million dollars. Just 400,000 more for console versions.

I'm really late with this, but 9 days ago, they added a PayPal option. QuizmasterBos, you can back the project now if you still want to.

Thanks for remembering. I actually went and got a credit card, so now I don't need Paypal anymore. I also decided to not pledge, seeing as they don't have Wii U-centric stretch goals and I felt the stretch goals weren't really worth it anyway. Therefore I will wait until the game is released and I'll buy it then. OFFTOPIC: I did pledge money to the Shantae kickstarter. I wonder if anyone has backed that project yet?

Over 11000 people have backed the Shantae kickstarter. :) But yes, I'm one of them. I stopped buying handheld consoles after the DS, which meant missing out on their more recent titles, so this'll be the first one I'll have played since the GBC Shantae. I'm looking forward to it!

This looks EPIC. Definitely pledging some $ to this one.

I didn't get around to read the kickstarter page until this morning. As soon as I scrolled down to the mockup design screenshots, I immediately decided I absolutely must get it. And pledge money to it - gotta have that retro game manual and game box.

The game looks really nice (except the cocky smile of the protagonist - I much prefer megaman's frown), and the transformation part looks interesting too. Let's hope the music, level design, weapons and bosses turn out well. They should have made "free software: The game and all its assets will be released as free software under the GPL license" or similar a stretch goal. After all, the game is being paid for up front, and hence they do not depend on monopoly over distribution to make money. Just set the stretch goal high enough that they make a good profit on that alone.

While there are plenty of people who would love to see that, I can't help but think it wouldn't be anywhere near as motivating as their existing stretch goals. The stretch goals are mostly there to encourage people to contribute (or to contribute more, for those who have already pledged). GPLing everything would also be a lot of extra work for the programmers and lawyers (who have to organize everything, make certain they don't accidentally release any code they don't have the license for, go through looking for swear words, etc.) and relatively little for everyone else, which makes for an unbalanced use of the company's time. But I would love to see all the mods and new games that such an action would result in. :)

Sorry to bump, but hey, it's finally out apparently. I completely forgotten about it until someone passingly mentioned it on on reddit. So how is it?

There's a lot of widespread criticism on the game. Over the years its reputation already had been soiled because of the various delays, and the release hasn't gone over much better judging from reviews and the way the rest of the internet talks about it now. Personally, I got my backer keys yesterday, played the game for a moment yesterday evening, and really enjoyed it so far. The controls and gameplay are tight and fast, it has fairly challenging platforming action, and you get to blow up robots and take their weapons. That's basically what I want from a game like this. I couldn't care less about the trailer, graphics, plot, cutscenes, voice acting, or whatever else people were complaining about. I wasn't bothered about the delays either, as I never was in a rush to play the game (and I got to play a demo of it at Gamescom last year anyway). I don't regret choosing to back it back in 2013.

Personally, I'm having issues with the hardware requirements for the PC version. Sure, I'm using Intel HD Graphics 520, but it can run Diablo 3 at 60 fps. As for the game itself, I find it okay overall. Meh for graphics, ugh for cutscenes (at least they're shippable), fine for platforming (except I'm raging at dying at spikes after being knocked over to them) and dunno for bosses. For more certain subjectivity: I had more fun with Azure Striker Gunvolt.
