Post subject: Crashing and broken resolution with SNES cores?

I have been using BizHawk for >6 months now, and for some odd reason, only starting today, when I try to load SNES games in BizHawk, some strange things keep happening. When I try to load a game in BSNES, the screen is zoomed substantially into the center to the point where most games are unplayable. When I try to load a game in Snes9x, BizHawk just immediately crashes. What gives? Is there something I broke and cannot fix?

reboot, disable your security software, upgrade/downgrade your GPU drivers, delete your bizhawk's config.ini file

Yeah, I did everything you said and it looks like it's just broken. Not that it's your or any of the other devs' fault, for that matter. I'll wait until the next release and see if that does anything.

Certain games are known not to work in our Snes9x core and are being set to the Bsnes core only in the next release. What are you trying to play that crashes in Snes9x?

Mega Man X3, Mega Man X, Mega Man 7, and Super Mario World. Just a bunch of basic stuff that worked completely fine in Snes9x up until today.

Snes9x wasn't in Bizhawk until 2.0... Mega Man X3 won't work and has always crashed the Snes9x core since it was released. The others should work.

I noticed that MMX2 does not work either. Is it because of the chip that renders the wireframe models?

Yes. Snes9x handles the chip well enough, there were just differences in how Snes9x was put into Bizhawk that caused the issue. The next release will put force both of those games to the bnses core

I think you need to focus on answering our questions/puzzles: 1. how have you been using bizhawk for 6 months but "suddenly today" you have snes9x which was not in bizhawk 6 months ago. Maybe someone sneaked onto your computer, updated bizhawk, and broke it. 2. how megaman x3 worked in the snes9x core any time ever, let alone 6 months ago Right now nothing you say makes sense.

I have been updating BizHawk upon every new release for the past six months. When I recently upgraded to 2.0 (and the Snes9x core was officially integrated marking my first time ever using it), I had no discernible idea that X2/X3 would not work. I will therefore wait until further developments. This entire topic started with a mistake on my part. I apologize profusely for wasting everyone's time.

SNESHawk has an option to crop SGB border if using the BSNES/Higan core. It should be disabled when playing SNES games.

Good point. I've changed the code so that that option will no longer apply when not in SGB mode
